Rules: Have fun and add on to the story!!  Just make sure it follows the forum terms and conditions:

Our story begins in the beautiful realm of Tinykitty, an ironically large continent with many diverse regions.  From the unyielding peaks of the Unnerfable Mountains to the pirate-infested waters of the Seas of Endless Salt, you could truly find everything you could imagine in Tinykitty.

Nicol Bolas woke from his slumber.  He had slept well after wild dreams of burninating the peasants; but now that he was awake, it was time to get back to his real job as a black lotus farmer.  The duty was passed down to him from his father, Boleadoras, who was carried on the legacy from his father, Grandaddy Nickel Bowl.  However tending the lush flora under the bright morning sun just felt out of his elements.  Bolas craved excitement and adventure, to travel far away from the family gardens he had known all his life.

Closing the door behind him as he walked outside, Bolas spotted his BFF Tezzeret in the distance.

"Good Morning!" Tezzeret said, bounding towards him through a blooming field of khalnis.

"Tezz, you know I was never a fan of mornings," Bolas groaned.

"Yeah...me neither," Tezz agreed.  Bolas had always felt Tezz was a bit of a yes-man, always agreeing with Bolas and practically doing whatever he said.  Still, Bolas valued Tezz as his friend.

The two plainly walked down down the hillside; Tezz going on about the latest invention he was working on, Bolas pretending to listen with the occasional "uh huh," or "that's nice."

But then something caught Bolas's eye...

well...I thought this was a pretty cool idea at least ;)
My Frankenwalkers revival attempt has met a similar response.  I don't think people are as active here lately.  Too busy grinding for runes probably

I'm impressed you replied to that post, as I only had it up for about a minute before I deleted it (wanted to reply to other posts too and not bump this thread down and out of view).

I liked your frankenwalkers idea (I'm a sucker for creative threads), I just kept on accidentally breaking the rules so I stopped commenting.

It feels sometimes like many commenters in these threads favor hot topic debate threads over creative, fun threads

But then something caught Bolas's eye...

It was a tiny kitty. Bolas was a major fan of kittens. They were fluffy, and funny, and when they ran across his scales it tickled...

"Scales?" thought Bolas. He shook his head, as he attempted to wake up further. His burninatinog dream, already fading, must have left a bit of an impression. He certainly didn't have scales. Bolas elbowed Tezz, who was two thirds of the way through explaining something incredibly dull, "Hey man, there's a tiny kitty over there!"

Tezz looked over, then back to Bolas. "What are you talking about? There's no kitten over there. Maybe you saw a saproling?"

Bolas closed his eyes and rubbed them with the palms of his hand, careful not to cut himself with his claws. "Claws?". Bolas' eyes snapped open with the odd thought, only to see the tiny kitty was closer. And very clearly looking at him. "What is going on?" he mused, as Tezz looked on with concern.

Just then, the tiny kitty cleared her throat, opened her eyes wide, and said in a clear, clipped tone...

"My Good Sir Bowleras, we have brought you your prize, as requested," the tiny kitty's voice was surprisingly deep and professional, as was the fact that it could speak in the first place.

"What...who are you?  And what prize?"  Bolas was even more confused.

"As you ordered, we enlisted the help of army of Zendikar's Morel Mushroom Elementals.  They rescued Princess Avacyn from the evil hands of that pompous Gideon.  Additionally, we put out false rumors that she was locked away in Westvale Abbey, Hanweir Battlements, Alhammarrett's Archive, and the Temple of the False God.  But the princess is not in those castles my lord, for we brought her here...to you."

    "You...what?"

"It really was a brilliant scheme, my lord.  Ah, await no longer...here she comes now!"

A carriage rapidly approached from the distance and came to a halt in front of Bolas and Tezz.  However as the carriage door opened...

There was a flash of blue light, and a toned, fit man in a blue cloak stood before him.

Bowleras, speechless, could only think of one thing to say.

"No way those muscles are real"

The stranger sighed.  His form shimmered, and was suddenly replaced with a rather small, scrawny, and pale boy.

"You are indeed as powerful as they say, Bowleras.  Sorry for the trickery, but we needed to be alone"

Bowleras was confused.  "Alone for what?  And where's the princess?  And who is the princess?"

Cloak Boy looked at him with concern,  "There was no princess.  It was a ruse so I could get close to you."

"I have something very important to tell you....."

"...the evil Gideon is coming for you, Bowleras.  And he's going to hurt you, real bad."

    "Wait," Bolas asked, "But why?"

"Because you stole his princess, Bowleras," the stranger replied.

"But you said there was no princess."

"Exactly.  That's why he is evil."

Bolas was starting to feel like further conversation would get him nowhere.

"Okay...," he began, "Well I'm not exactly a pushover.  I can probably take this guy."

"Oh, it's not just him," the stranger continued, "He's getting together all the pals he had back in high school; this really melodramatic clique...I think they called themselves The Gatewatch."

"Wow, that's pretentious," Tezzeret chimed in, though Bolas couldn't confirm if he had heard what the stranger said, or he was referencing the manalith architecture of his neighbor's mailbox.

    "So...what should I do?"

"Fly, you fool.  Fly to the desert beyond the mountains.  There you may find people gullible enough to fight to the death for this petty rivalry."

"I can't fly, I'm just a lotus farmer!" Bolas was starting to lose his temper.

"Wait!  Before you go...do not forget that it's dangerous to go alone, take this," the stranger handed Bolas a mysterious stone.

"...what is this?" Bolas asked, taking the stone in the palm of his hand.

"No one really knows!  But it'll float in the air when you put it between your horns."

What?  My...horns??  "Yeah...good talk," Bolas stormed off away from the stranger, perfectly content with never talking to him for the rest of his days.

One thing was for sure, with evil Gideon and his old gang approaching, he couldn't stay here.  He had to find a place to hide, a place to be safe.  As Bolas set out, a part of him already began to miss the lotus-fields he had become so familiar with.

"Wait!  Don't forget about me!" Tezz caught up to Bolas just as he reached a crossroad.

"So...uh, Bolas, man...where are we going?"

here's an inaccurate visual to go along with where we are at in the story:

Bolas suddenly realized there was a 3rd path he somehow hadn't even noticed, a twisting path with wilting lotuses that looked nothing like the healthy black lotuses back at his farm.

A wooden sign rested on the grass near his feet.  He picked it up to look at it.

"Dominaria," it read, which had been scratched off and had been replaced by the word:

"The Wonderful Happy Place of Phyrexia-Land," this had also been crossed off, and replaced with:

"No it's Dominaria for realsies," which had a jagged cut through it, and was replaced by letters carved into the wood saying:

"GOBLINZ WE'R HEERE," the edge of the sign was missing a piece, as if a small creature had taken a bite out of it.  It was a very messy sign.

Bolas now wondered if he should take this path.  After thinking about it for a few moments, he decided what he would do, which was to...

Bolas awoke from a weird dream.

In his dream, he was summoned to another place, a sandy place, one where he was doing horrible things to nice people.  There were a lot of zombies too...kinda cliche but I guess it isn't a real dream without zombies these days.

The bullies that picked on him in high school were there, the dramatic stuck-up clique that had called themselves The Gatewatch.

    And he was a...dragon?  What?

Apparently he had beaten his high-school nemeses, that felt nice...if only it was more than a dream.

Bolas looked around, he was still at the sign.

I can't believe I haven't made a decision yet!  He thought, I'm so bad at choosing things without guidance.  Which way should I go??
