so much to buy but no events to play

Why is no one  talking about this? maybe I'm just missing something. But last two moths were just awful. Why we get at this point where theres just nothing to do? I dont get it, if its some kind of commercial strategy to force us to buy products... well its completely wrong! who would invest money in a no fun game?

It' really annoying to be grateful when some events are up. NO. Its the minimum condition for a game to keep players on. There should be at least double ammount of events, so we can choose where to play and be fairly rewarded for that.

I'm objective with this: new events are awesome... but they made them short and sporadic. but WHY? NO fun=no players. So whats the point? And its not about weekends or week days, we have events that lasts 3 days and just give us just no reawards at all! (Oh yeah, maybe i'm forgetting about the 90% chance to get a dupplicated rare of a set that cannot be used in half the events out there).

Please need a feedback. (now that there's no more to do than just read forum entries... )

They need more of the events with no time limits or expectations like Fateful Showdown that start just a few hours before things end.

There have been multiple threads about this in the past. People just get tired of complaining when there is no acknowledgement of the problem.

Feels like with almost every new change, I get less and less incentivized to play this game.  An unfortunate trend in this mtgpq recession.

This is annoying, but it seems that the devs don't really care to do anything about it. It is especially unfortunate with how much they're beating us over the head with microtransactions. Like "here, buy these cards that you can craft, at a non discounted rate" no . I'm good.

We should return back to the glory days when the last guys in charge were throwing down 24 hour events every other day. I think the key though is 24 hr events, some guy complained about how short the events were and all of a sudden the events were 48-72 hours long. They become sluggish and boring and all of a sudden we’re getting one to two events a week. The rewards for those event weren’t so bad either, maybe a couple MC here and there but it did give you something worth competing over

They need to step up their game or admit this thing is not going anywhere.  There is no real motivation to play most of the matches.  The rewards are so bad, lets spend an hour to get 20 unobtanium and 5 commons.  After a month of this you can get a dupe Mythic.  When the game constantly reminds you that you are wasting your time it is not a good thing.

Secondly lets sell you cards that you will not be able to use due to the fact that ypu cannot generate enough mana to use them.  Not becuase of deck mechanics but due to game mechanics.  Where else in the world do they encourage you to purchase new hobby supplies to improve then make them impossible to use?

As far as I can tell, they've taken the stance that when an event is on, players are compelled to play, and feel resentment for the obligation. Thus, they only put on the absolute minimum number of events so as not to overburden the player. I agree with OP, put events out there and allow the players to choose how best to invest their time. Maybe after a little while they'll outgrow their FOMO. But at the moment, it's a weird situation of egg-shell walking.

Oh, and also events have to be triggered manually apparently (as we learned when we went nearly a week with no events because nobody was home to turn events on) and everyone is so hard pressed working on Dominaria that they can't trigger more than a bare minimum of events (not actually sarcasm, I'm pretty sure, unless I misunderstood something).

Yeah that was my understanding of it too, which doesn't quite add up in my opinion.  With the uproar of complains pre-Rivals from the lack of events should have tipped them off that, as much as we love the new sets being released, that leaving mtgpq like a ghost town in the process is not okay.

It's not like adding events is hard (or even time consuming).  I was first in line to defend Octagon when this happened the first time.  But I'm running out of reasons to see this as something besides a money grab.

oh yes! is a matter of money! i think those microtransactions are proving them that this is a good way to do money: hostigate with nothing to do an lot of things to buy. But... this cannot last for loo long, and they know it. So they take advantage of this transition time, and after dominaria release anyone will remember this point

What legacy events have there been so far in PvP?

They have mostly rotated Terrors, EC and NoP.
No FiRF for months, although many dislike it, it would be a good filler to put in once a month.

It's a shame, I love this game but it is really starting to get frustrating.  These 3 day events that you can finish in an hour are ridiculous.  I have seen multiple forums addressing this and yet nothing has been done.  I am not even sure if this is a way to get people to spend money because what do you get to do with your purchases?

It's true. Revolt against the consulate took me an hour.... now what?

1-I've mentioned this before , but TG should be at least 250 runes per battle so we don't have to grind Heroic Encounters.

2-There should be 5-10 daily objectives in Story Mode worth an extra 250-500 runes per battle when complete.

3- 3-10 daily achievements in TG for extra runes. ex. win a battle with no creatures- 500 runes, win a battle with Ajani- 250 runes.

I believe these would be simple add ons, increase in runes for lvling PWS , create a more interesting gameplay when grinding, and more content for players who'd want something to do.

You could add a bonus of 5-10 crystals or/and 25-50 orbs when completing all achievements,objectives...etc

Story Mode and TG has so much untapped potential , I'm surprised they haven't done this. There would be always something to do daily and they could be quite creative with some of the objectives to promote the new standard. Only dinosaur creatures can be used, using Vraska ,defeat story mode X lvl Y,  Cast Revel in the Riches 3 times in one match..etc

They could have 1-2 objectives per story mode from easy for bronze lvl and hard for platinum lvl.

Even if you're not gaining yellow / pink crystals at least you're having some fun and interesting challenges to gain runes for your PW.

    ^^^^ this

also if Octagon is hurting on revenue, optional (emphasis on optional) once-per-day reward for watching 3 short ads (100 rune reward for the first two and then a 15 crystal reward for completing all 3?).  I personally don't mind watching a couple ads if I know there's a reward for doing so.

I agree with heart above. I don’t like mandatory adds but if they put in a watch ad button I’m sure it would be used frequently. While we’re on the money, I don’t understand why a digital copy of a card is so expsenive. I don’t know where anyone gets off asking $20 for 3 cards and little bit of resources. If they need to create revenue stream I would suggest, they add a advertisement button, lower the their prices of exclusive content drastically and third add a premium membership service that is well worth the it. I wouldn’t mind paying $5 a month to support this game (I love this game) for access to more resources and possible some other exclusive material as long (a very big as long) as they ramped up the regular (f2p) game. Just so I am clear (looking at you devs) I would be willing to pay $5 maybe a little more to support the game NOT $20, $40 or someother crazy price that someone might cook up.

Have to agree this game needs a lot more in the way of events.  Both f2p and p2p with appropriate rewards. I bought Karn simply to support the game, if i had legitimate content to play i would have been motivated by genuine desire vs principle.

Marvel PQ does a great job of giving enough content.  I don't even touch pvp and the pve content alone is enough to keep me busy for a day.  One thing they get right is front loading the rewards.  The deadpool daily quest has great rewards for playing a half dozen games a day. In the event you get the lion's share of rewards for doing about half the clears.  The hardcores can grind the nodes to dust for diminished returns/placement.  Perfect.
