New Champ. MEHulk, Nightcrawler, or Quake?

Hey all, I could use some advice and thoughts. I am pretty deeply into 4* land, with 25 champed. I've got all the important ones, but for RHulk and Punisher. I do have AmChav champed (which I think is elevant to almost any current discussion of this sort, but especially in the way that I like to play PVE).

On the vine I have two MEHulks, one Nightcrawler, and with the Thanos event I'll be +1 on Quake. I'm pretty sure I can only champ one in time to use the above, so let's assume that's the case.

What are your thoughts on relative merits, here, as to whom I might like to champ next?

I appreciate your help!

When I played with 4*, I liked Quake for events like EotS.  Her passive reducing AoE damage is great.  Haven't played really much with the 2 others to say something good.

I think night crawler is probably the best of the three the latest two you are also more likely to get more covers of

I'd say Main Event Hulk since you have more covers for him and you are likely to get more too. Nightcrawler would be the second priority since he also has increased pull odds.
MEHulk can be pretty lethal, he has an undeserved bad rumour. Nightcrawler seems a bit overhyped from what I can see, he is fun but not in any way necessary.

MEHulk is undervalued imho.  The free turn and his power that creates a bunch of critical tiles is great.
Quake has the unique AoE reduction power which is handy.
NC I think is the weakest of the bunch but would probably prioritize over Quake due to him having increased pull rates currently.

Arix90 makes a good point. You will likely see more MEHulk and Night Crawler covers before you see another Quake (as a classic). So more opportunities to get them on the vine.

We recently champed Night Crawler for his boosted Simulator event and have been pleased with his Purple and Red, but can only see his use boosted in the future or for creative play. There is likely more supportive  / situational use out of Quake in PVE events.

I'm currently nearing the end of my own race to champ MEHulk, so I guess i'm a little biased there. I have 4 days left to come up with 120k iso...I have about 72k tied up in covers on the vine and a 2* magneto i can sell as soon as a replacement rolls in, so it's possible but not probable.

As for which you should champ: Hulk is awesome if you have Mockingbird, even un-leveled. If you can get Gamma Powerbomb to fire off for free it will really do some damage. When paired with a good thanos, sometimes you can win matches off court death from an initial cascade without even making a move for fast pve clears.

Nightcrawler is a lot of fun, but he hits like a wiffle ball bat when un-boosted. He does tend to pair well with Chavez though, because once you get that purple going he is an AP factory.

I don't have much experience with Quake, since mine is very under-covered; I like the character, but couldn't tell you firsthand if she'll turn the tide for you.

All three of these characters are board shakers primarily, so if you're using a team that wants to have special tiles out on the board, none of them are going to help that out very much. though if you are using Shuri heavily, Hulk does spit out a bunch of shielded countdowns on a different color than she does.

Yup, and Shuri's Red power reduces the high cost of his Yellow and Purple.  Those two and Bobbi (free firing of powers) or the 4*Black Panther (the sheer amount of fortified tiles is hilarious) are fun together.

As to whom to champion, I concur with RoadWarrior with MeH, he's quite fun.  The argument for Quake is more that her covers are harder to come by, so use them while you can.  In that case it's more of a completionist/pokemon gotta catch them all mentality that says to champ Quake.  Although she does have her uses, only a few old 4*s are still usable with the power creep in full effect.  My personal goal is to get everybody to at least 280 so if they become a 5* feeder I get a cover on top of the Legendary that you would normally get at 280...

Personally I say Nightcrawler. ME Hulk has a nice passive, but his purple can backfire and give your opponent some critical tiles to work with. The random effects of his yellow make it ultimately unreliable, regardless of the fact that each individual possibility is nice. Nightcrawler on the other hand, I feel like his purple is flat-out broken. For his 4* Essential in Simulator, I ran Nightcrawler/PX/SWitch and decimated the enemy team almost solely with that power. He's the highest leveled of those 3 on my roster, making purple the strongest color. SWitch fed him, and since the power is so cheap I spammed it, which caused PX to feed him more purple while also spamming special tiles. I have the Quinjet Support on PX, so he was also strengthening tiles as I kept firing Nightcrawler's purple for match-5s. To be fair, his red is a mediocre nuke, and his blue only working on the opposing team's strongest color makes it hard to get the most out of. It's like Mordo's, but not really since Mordo hits the highest colored ap pool regardless. I'd still pick Nightcrawler's set over Hulk's, but I ultimately think  you should get to them both.

If you don't know, I would do Quake as she will be more difficult to get.  MEH and NC will be around with 4X odds for a while.  None are particularly great, IMHO, but all can be used when boosted.

When you get to the point where you're not sure who is good enough to champ, then it doesn't matter anymore.  You won't use any of them unless they're boosted, so just go with the one who has the most covers in your queue.
I agree with this (that it doesn't matter a whole lot) -- hence my comment about having all the important 4*s already (except for the newest: Shuri, Valkyrie, and BP; they all seem useful, especially the first two).

But I have asked for this advice before at other "hmm.not sure" moments and was astonished at how much useful info people volunteered, things I'd never have considered -- it was especially interesting seeing comparisons of mid-tier characters in an arbitrary grouping. I am certain others can use the same raw data.

Anyway, tons of great info -- thanks again, y'all. I'm leaning to MEH primarily for the Mockingbird connection. I hadn't thought of that and I find her hard to use really effectively despite very much liking her powers conceptually. Plus board shake is an awesome thing...

This is an important consideration and weighs heavily in my thinking. But her main claim to fame is her yellow defense. I am not in love with defensive play in this game and just don't think she fits my playing style, generally. In other words, I think I would have more fun with, in particular, MEH. If nothing else: dang, those muscles... And a prison planet survivor? Yes, please...  >:)

Maybe I'm in the minority, if you're talking about his passive board shake, it's as ineffective to me as Loki's purple is.  Often times MeH's passive ruins matches I wanted to make.  He's still worth it for his ridiculous purple nuke/board shake, but not if you were counting his passive board shake as a selling point.

In my case his passive and Loki's purple are like supercharged RNG madness.  There are those on these forums that always get a great benefit from the randomness; then you get ppl like me where it hardly ever helps my team.  Just my .02...

I don't know how late you joined the MPQ train, but Quake's passive was critical back when PVE was scaled to your roster vs what SCL you picked.  Now, it's rather okay... you now have other avenues to mitigate group damage, especially when you go on the offensive with grockmora...

Quake is a niche PVE specialist, so I get the logic behind not being too interested in her, even if I personally use her more than the other two combined.  Based on what you just typed, I think you should just pull the trigger on Hulk and be done with it, to be honest.  He's got the highest "fun factor", unless you're really into various winfinite combinations, where BAMF does enable a few of those...

The game has moved past Quake, and the only thing that still shines is her yellow passive. If you play a lot of PvE it can be a health pack saver against goons with AoE. But at the same time, I would rarely bring her in to battle over one of the boosted characters. As others have noted, there are better options.

Nightcrawler is disappointing. His purple is his only notable skill, but they didn't code it so you know which color he'll create when you fire it. Sometimes it's obvious, other times it's a toss-up — be prepared to start tediously counting tiles or to get a color you weren't counting on 50% of the time in those instances. The passive to avoid AoE damage is also very nice, but to date I've only used him when boosted.

I don't have MEH champed yet but I think he gets a bad rap. He can be a beast. His green is more annoying than it is useful, but his other two powers, especially his purple, can be amazing. And let's not forget his sizable health pool. I've avoided PvP matches with champed MEH just because it can be such a slog to down him, so he does have that going for him too. I'd pick him.

One other thing that might be worth checking: look through the past sneak peek threads for the weekly boosted lists, and you'll notice that they cycle with almost the same combinations of characters.  Are there any any weeks where you have zero or only one boosted character?  Would champing any of these three improve matters?

It might be worth champing a mediocre character if the better character is always paired up with top tier characters you'd always pick over them.

I usually look at upcoming daily resupply and if I need to choose someone to champ, I will go for the character that have their covers pop up first (if I haven't got their covers in the past). I also look at how close my 3 stars to giving me some 4 star covers and plan accordingly. I rather not waste guaranteed covers.
