Was there a change to pvp queue method?

I've been away for the weekend but did read back over the forum and didn't necessarily see anything. I came out of a fight that I entered at 1098 at 675 after adding in the 29 and a 18 win in the list, for a -467 hit in a few minutes. I noticed most of the retaliation opportunities where for 3-8 points each. I wasn't sure if this was something new, seems like in the past most of the hits would be from folks closer by in the standings.

Sorry if this is duplicate topic and thanks for your time and/or reply.

Perhaps the mods will change your title cause it seems like you're asking more about the pvp matchmaking, not queueing. It definitely seems like they've altered matchmaking so that guys with 2-300 can see you at 7-800 and gain a ton of points. I don't remember this happening a couple weeks ago, so it seems like something has been changed, but no one can really figure out what it is. On one hand they seemed to change it so at higher point totals you see more people in your point range rather than MMR, and on the other hand they make it so these huge disparities happen quite often.

The PvP queue is another hotly debated topic and lots of us think they've changed something there as people have been entering simultaneously with different accounts and ending up in different queues. Plus there seem to be more frequent occurrences of "brackets of death" i.e. lots of furum heavies in the same bracket such that top 10 is over 1100.
  • Not sure what's going on, but I definitely got hit 3 or more times today for losses of 40 or more by rosters much stronger than mine who were under 100 points while I was in the 700 range. Left me with retaliations I might not play normally, but certainly not when they were worth 2 points. And with those rosters, they were not people I had hit on the way up.
  • Similar experience.

It's even more dramatic than that. I was on 700 points earlier this morning and I got slammed for 45 points by someone with less than 100 points.

(With a maxed Spidey so the retaliation only being worth 5 I can ignore)

Edit: That'll learn me to read all the way down a page icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • I've definitely noticed a trend of getting destroyed by 3 star teams and the retaliation reward is 1-5 points.

I've also noticed that I'm starting to hit teams that are full 3 star teams and I've barely got 1 full covered 2 star currently sitting at 70.

Not sure I like the direction this game is going.
  • Also when starting the event straight up full 3 star teams from the getgo

While I get where you are going with that, this doesn't seem to be an issue about the brackets themselves, but how matches are paired with MMR, Season Points, and Roster Levels.
  • welcome to mmr hell, so glad you all could join me! (finally).

seriously though, i never tanked my mmr for pvp (ever) and seeing 3x 141s from the drop has been pretty normal for a long time (for me). now it seems like they've decided to share the pain.
  • Loki PVP - I opened it last night right away so I got seed teams in all nodes.

Beat one, suicided a loner/1/6 team on another.

My two available fights on those nodes are worth 47 and 45. Players ranked and 525 and 422 respectively, and running ThOrBW and StOrmBW . I have 24 points. So they've definitely changed something big time.

Only thing I can think of is that maybe this is some sort of twisted way to compensate for the horror that is maxed teams right away - give you fewer teams to hit to work your way up to progression rewards.

Doesn't actually make it better though. Right now it's early on day one, if I gank big points from those two, they'll get them back quick enough. But if it's a few hours before closing time, that's just mean.
  • Saw the same thing in the Rags pvp. I was at 100pts and was getting matched with people with 700. While that's great for me, it's really not fair to those that had 700.

I have a strong enough roster to deal with this type of matchmaking, but for those making 2*-3* transitions it's become increasingly difficult for them to place well because once they hit 600+ range they get pummeled from max 3* teams. Not cool. Not cool at all...
