Ghalta, primal hunger + the AI [Investigating]

The AI seems to never pick ghalta as a target for creature removal as long as the player has at least 1 other creature out on the field. Between a 2/2 zombie and a 48/48 ghalta, the AI will always choose to remove the 2/2 zombie.

My guess is that because ghalta's cost has been reduced to 0, the AI counts it as less of a threat despite the humongous pile of stats.

@Furks Did you happen to have a Support like Lumbering Falls out, that gives your first creature Hexproof?

@brigby no hexproof was involved. For some reason the ai has very low priority for removing this card, despite the usually humongous stats.

Here's a battle log where it happened again, this was in the training grounds so no event shenanigans were going on. I had a 6/6 pile of zombies and a 12/12 ghalta out and the ai choose to remove the zombies.

(sorry, the pictures aren't in the correct order but the turn number should appear at the top of each one )

Later in that same game, when I had only ghalta out, the AI correctly targeted it with removal

I had 120/120 green elemental from ZendikarRoil, ghalta 60/60 and 6/5 shefet monitor
AI Bolas selected Shefet monitor as a target of its 1st ability

Hmmm, maybe it's not just ghalta itself then. It could be that the ai is over valuing the cost of a card compared to its stats

If you have a creature card out, the AI always prioritizes it over tokens when targeting creatures, not just with removal, I have observed this consistently. This weekend a Kiora deck using kefnets last word stole my Rhonas twice over the huge pile of drake tokens that would enable him.
It's one of the quirks of the AI, one I an glad to exploit.

@G_pretender not with ghalta though, the AI will consistently target tiny stacks of zombie tokens over humongous ghalta piles

@Brigby the AI seems to use casting cost as a key for targeting, and it's often considering Ghalta as 0 mana cost.

Interesting. Thanks for all the info everyone! I'll pass this along to the team for review.
