Pull Skipped Teams Out of Rotation

Okay, I just played for about half an hour, and the same FIVE teams, and ONLY those five teams, were the only matches I was presented with. I skipped through, payed the stupid tax over and over again—but those were the ONLY teams I could play apparently.

If I played a match, it was those same five teams again that I could play.

So first of all, this is annoying. If I'm paying a skip tax, I don't need to see the same opponents over and over again in a 5 person rotation.

Second, if I WERE to attack ONLY those five teams, that's effing impolite! I feel like the community here tries to show courtesy to each other by NOT beating up on the same team over and over again. But right now, in Krakadoom, that's the only option I'm being presented with.

Skipped teams should be temporarily taken out of one's rotation to avoid this problem.

  • Totally agreed.
Keep seeing the same one over and over is ****.
  • Either taken out of rotation, or at the very least, once you have skimmed through them all, the "Skip" button should change to "No more skips available".

How would not having any more skips solve the problem? It's not like it's just me and those five players on the game.

"No more skips available" would basically just mean "go tinykitty yourself."

Agreed. But if they are only going to give you 5 teams to skip through, once you see all 5, currently they are still charging you a "skip tax" (as it has been called in other threads.) to rotate through the same 5 people.

Considering everything that I have been reading in threads lately, at least the later will band aid the situation so you know what you are dealing with, as it doesn't appear that they change the broken things very effectively or quickly.
  • This would be lovely. I get tired of seeing the same few people. Especially because it feels like climbing a slippery mountain, since I suspect I am evermore one of their five.

Hilariously, last night while I was playing the usual "skip the same five people a dozen times" game, I was being attacked by people who WEREN'T showing up for me as I skipped, so it's not like the game ran out of unshielded people at my MMR level to show me, it just didn't feel like it.

    EXACTLY!

Well, they could introduce a second type of seed teams, worth a multiple of 100, containing appropriately tough team members. Whenever the matching algorithm would feel like handing out duplicates, offer such a seed team instead. Not the best solution, still an improvement over the current behavior.

I hope these seed teams don't have Thor/OBW.

As far as I understand, the game only uses seed teams when not enough people have joined a tournament yet.

But that isn't the issue here. Plenty of people are playing. But the match-making algorithm doesn't have enough self awareness to know that it's only giving me the same five teams over and over again; or because the parameters of the match-making algorithm are far too narrow and are leaving certain players with only a tiny range of possible matches (in my case, about five).

Welcome to MMR hell ladies and gentlemen!

Seriously though, this has been an issue for a while and it doesn't look like they're going to do anything about it... at least it's nowhere near their list of priorities.
Got to work on that new reward screen yo'! I kid! ...I think... icon_neutral.gif

At the very least having like a 10-30 minute cooldown on not being able to matched against someone you skipped would be a nice touch. Most of us aren't just skipping out of courtesy.
