Unexplainable Creature Summoning, Race to Orazca Black Node [Investigating]

My opponent had no supports in play, and only a Whirler Rogue and it's accompanying thopters on the field, but got activated gems that when I tapped on it showed Hangarback Walker and Tiolani's Skinshifter. Twice during the match, my opponent matched those gems and those creatures were immediately placed onto the field.
