Is there any rule about dupes when there are many available.

    Nope. Just "good luck" they stopped rerolls when crafting went live .

    If I'm not confused, they said it would be harder to get dupes from elite packs. I have no idea of the features involved in this change but it looks like it hasn't been introduced yet.

     hope you're wrong. But i had the same theory - and won't risk too many pink stuff to test the assumption (ignoring that this wouldn't even possibly generate enough data)

    No you get duplicates. From this set of cards I have tried to purchase 3 times and as d3go will have it, I drew the same card 3 times. These jewels suck only ever get useless supports.

    An effect of drastically reducing the chance of a mythic and increasing the chance of masterpiece in elite packs has been to make it harder to get dupes.

        Yeah i noticed the 25 % chance of masterpiece and i saw the wide pool of cards ... I just thought it would be something more relevant ...
        I'm wondering if the wide pool really lowers chances of dupes as with several reduced pools you could also avoid the ones in which you already had most mythics.
       The enhanced chance of MP isn't really convincing neither as a way to reduce duplicates ... At least you get more orbs from dupe MPs than mythics.

    I agree, given patience and good choices of pack rotation, smaller pools are better for reducing dupes, not larger ones.  Taken to an extreme, if they made pools of 1 card, you could avoid dupes altogether.  Large pools can be argued to be better for avoiding dupes if you want to buy a whole lot of elite packs all in the same rotation.  It could make sense to open with a large pool and then go to smaller pools later in the set.  (Maybe that's what they have planned?)

    Your dupe rate when you get a random new MP is lower than your dupe rate when you get a random new mythic, simply from owning a lower proportion of the MPs.  So increasing your chance of MP decreases your average dupe rate.

    But if you're not sold by either point above, I don't think there's anywhere else to look.  These two things are the only changes the devs described in relation to their statement about reduced elite pack dupes.   The quote was:
    We’ve adjusted the drop rates and card pool for the Elite Packs in Ixalan.  This means that you should have a much lower chance of getting a duplicate from your Elite Packs
    (followed by something about Valuetown, which I won't repeat, since it always seems to distract people from the point. :P)

        Yeah, i see what you mean about the higher droprate of mps ...
       Honestly I'm not sure the diference will be so relevant as you become more likely to pull MPs but also dupe mps ...
        The pool of mps is restricted so the odds of getting dupe mps grows faster than mythics if i follow that theory  (with 3 mps owned you got 30% chance of dupes but you need about 8 mythics to reach that percentage) ... But i'm no statistician neither.
        The sure thing  and the worse thing is that you can't focus on particular cards at all (atm at least) ... So even if you might get a slightly lower chance of dupes ... You're less likely to get the cards you're looking at ...  (Not to mention the mps in ixalan that are also quite disapointing but thats another issue)
       
       Anyways, even if the dupe problem isn't solved, jewels and crystals being way easier to get than before i don't think we've been loosing anything on it.

    If you get a dupe ixalan mythic, you are getting 750 orbs because it is from a non-craftable set. A craftable mythic dupe will provide 500 orbs. If you receive a dupe MP then you receive 2500 orbs (which is an insane amount of orbs).

    You are still getting something rather than nothing.

    It's still beyond comprehension why there is even the possibility of drawing a duplicate card for the rarest resource in the game.

    I'm semi-hopeful that the reason we got the mega-pack this time around was the compressed schedule for XLN... That said, the rare pack almost has merit now that we get jewels instead of guaranteed rares in the events...

    I have 8 out of 40 rares .... and i get 2 dupes.

    Again a dupe......

    120 Jewels.. ...I have 2 Rares at the moment....and I get a RIX rare dupe.

    As much as I like the orbs... I sadly have 3 mythics, of which two have been duped. Of those two, one was from an elite pack. Kind of stings since the ones I have are so so mythics. Nothing like the dinosaurs or supports that Rivals is offering. Still, it's something, which is better than nothing.

    lol I have pulled 3-4 Nezahal, Primal Tides from packs so far. Luckily, my only Elite pack since RIX didnt give me a dupe.
