Do covers expire in real time, or days-played?

I know the SHIELD resupply operates only on the days you actually play the game. But what about the other timers like cover expiration and VIP days?

I'm going to be out of town this weekend, and wondered if the game is essentially "paused" while I'm gone, or if I'll lose covers and/or VIP benefits during the away time?

    Actually I think VIP works that way also i.e. you can skip a day and the rewards pause.

    Yeah, VIP pauses when you don't play the game. I was away for months (May to October) and still had VIP Days left when I came back to the game.

    Covers most certainly expire though.
