AM -- What did you do that's cool and new this weekend?

I played Vraska on 2 nodes -- straight up pirate decks with legacy support.

I also deployed Dinos -- SO FUN -- with Aj1.

And Saheeli and Bolas ID decks are amazing with Transgress and Moon.

My newly crafted Drowner and BtB also saw some action.

But my favorite was in 5.2 and 3 -- Taking on GRB and Avacyn with HUF, Deploy, AotSS, Gisela, the ponies (Crested Sunmare) , and Support lockdown (Nyx, Authority of the Consuls (those tokens make the ponies hugs), Desert's Hold, Gideon's Defeat and Shrine of the Forsaken Gods.)

In my alt, I went with Nahiri energy (LR, Aethergeode Miner and Harvester) on the 5th node -- I've never considered that for aggro before and it's fast and effective.

I really, really hope we get some more legacy coalition events!!

    Interesting...

I did Avacyn Staheeli, allll the steal spells, but with a sword or other supports on your side they are better for you, especially stealing her zombie that doesn't die and.... I just realised it brings back another zombie, should be using Skaab Goliath... I was already thinking that for another version of the deck but it works here too!

Legacy PVE coalition... Be more specific! Grin. I don't want legacy pvp coalition at all!

I realized I could just abuse Persistent Nightmare with my Koth QB deck that has been getting dust for the last year.

I used a boring Kiora cycling deck against Persistent Nightmare. I don't have the Archive or Sphinx that double draw for cycling though. Somehow, on the third turn of the last battle my cycling went infinite anyway. I started with a ~50 power Drake stack and every other Shafet gave me a match-5 to use NP to refill my hand. I ended up killing him in a single giant 384/384 swing (his Mindwrack Demon had done 4 damage to him).

I went at PN with Elspeth.

Chose a combo of supports (Nyx, Gideon's Defeat, Authority of the Consuls, Desert's Hold and Cast Out) and (Glory Bond, Gisela and Solemn Recruit) Oketra's Attendant for draw and an extra creature in a pinch and kept a Deploy in my hand just in case (never had to use it). Spammed the heck out her tokens.

She was really fun on this level and it was a totally different approach than what I've done in the past.

I used an all-tokens Bolas deck against the spider. It wasn't terribly efficient, but it was fun.

    From Under the Floorboards
    Scatter to the Winds
    Stir the Sands
    Bone Shards
    Altar's Reap
    Frozen in Ice
    Devil's Playground
    Riddleform
    Dunes of the Dead
And a tenth card, which I've forgotten...

It was a good time. I went above 20 creatures lost on each fight.

Edit: I remembered the tenth card, it was Dowsing Dagger

Avacyn's Madness is one of the coolest events in this game for sure :D

I played a deck with the only creatures being the other 2 Eldrazi Titans with the theme that they miss their big sister-Emrakul and just want to come and say hello.

"Hello" in Eldrazi usually amounts to destroying everything between one Titan and the other, so...

I ran my Ramunap Hydra deck a bunch, and for the higher-node fights I broke out my patented Bolas "I'd rather play your cards than mine" deck with Unesh and Gonti (now with 100% more Hostage-Taking!) which is always enjoyable when the opponent has fat stacks of mythics. Also messed around a bit with an Elspeth Pyromancer's Goggles creatureless deck, which was fun but would work better if I had another white board wiper in addition to Fumigate.

Speaking of other board wipes. You try this one? (My first mythic in this game!)  Works in Avacyn's Madness ;)

Actually got to use my freshly crafted Deploy deck on node 4 and 5 I think. Samut, Flagship and George Clooney make those matches a lot faster and more fun than cycling.

Did you use her ult to pop the Goggles?

I wish I had Descend Upon the Sinful, sadly it's one of those mythics that's always eluded me. In general I haven't had a lot of luck getting the white power cards (I don't have Deploy either).

That's the whole idea! That part worked great, I just had a couple runs where the enemy got off to a fast start (Goldnight Castigator and stacks of tokens every turn, for example) while I kept getting every-spell-but-Fumigate, which made it uncomfortably close a couple times.

I used a fun high-roller pirate deck/Starfield lock deck to take care of 4.3. (persistent nightmare)

I beat he brains out of Persistent Nightmare and Avacyn with my overpowered Ajani2 deck.

I then reconstructed a crazy loop deck using Murasa Rashmi and Startled Awake and zoomed through all the “lose X creatures” objectives.

Though I lost play time on nodes for the first full day, didn’t lose a match and that was fun - including the use of new Ixalan cards throughout my decks.
