Is Across Ixalan Free?

Was there a change we weren't told about @Brigby?  The last 2 Across Ixalan have been free to join, but with the same rewards.  I don't mind free stuff, but I feel like this is a bug.

Also, why is progression so easy in it?  With 15 points per charge per node (not even considering the weird 2 hour refresh), getting 40 points is a joke.  Why not double it to 80?  That would at least force a few fights to get the rewards, instead of giving a ton of currency and a pack for 3 fights.

I just wish this was communicated a bit better.

Across Ixalan will be free through the 24th as compensation for how buggy the first one was. Brigby mentioned this in the thread about said bugs, maybe elsewhere too, but it would have been more visible as an announcement of its own. For the points, personally I'd prefer they leave the current rewards as they are and add some bonus crystals for winning a bunch. Say 150-200 points if they keep the node recharges. ~100 if not.

Might have been a good use for the inbox as well. I think D3 should promote the fact that they made good on issues more than they do.

Try to think about it as a Standard version of Training Grounds. That's how I'm looking at it. It's actually quite useful for testing decks in the Standard environment.

The fact that it's easy to get the 40 points is not an issue by itself.
I mean ... I think its pretty cool to be able to clear it fast (3-4 games if you manage to deal with secundaries). It allows players to get their daily rewards without spending too much time on it. Particularly with the new greg, because games can be longer and more challenging.
If you are not aiming at secundaries you still need 8 games to clear it (as for totp) ... So nothing really changes overall.
The refresh makes it really easy, thats true ... But it makes the event less elitist, wich is good for "begginners". Besides, as it has been said already, its pretty cool to be able to play games just for fun in the new environement, with the new funky mechanics introduced in this event.
I dont really care if its easier ( totp wasnt too challenging neither with the ancient greg ... Except for painful combos ) but i really like it being funnier.

Also it encourages other levels to play. I've been playing in Bronze and there is a HUGE amount of randomness based on who you are matched against.
Many people in Bronze have 1 or 2 mythics and depending what they are they can completely hose you. Platinum complaining about losing matches or requirements due to matchmaking is _hilarious_ compared to what happens to everyone else.

So I don't really care what happens at the platinum level, they'll complain NO MATTER WHAT but they will adjust and put up with it.

I care about making sure it stays accessible and worth playing for everyone else. (And it currently is. 3 nodes and/or recharges need to stay.)
