Hi Everyone,

Many of you know this player from the forum, and we recently had the chance to speak with him about mtgpq.info - a website that provides an in-depth database of all the cards and Planeswalkers in Magic: Puzzle Quest.

Check out the interview here: Meet Octal9 - mtgpq.info

We appreciate everything Octal9 does... especially helping us port his data to our weird internal spreadsheets which we (very stubbornly!) insist on using. Also, rumor has it that he’s incredibly competent with a chainsaw.

For more than a year, I have had the pleasure of watching Octal develop this site (in fact, I remember the first posts when he decided that decktester needed a replacement -- on Facebook) -- it's an amazing feat that he pulls off set after set with the help of a lot of people from numerous coalitions and groups of coalitions who help collect PW and shield data (that's right -- mtgpq.info is the only place you can get support shields). Which he then puts the hours he described into rendering to a finished product.

He exhausts tons of time and pays for it all out of his own pocket (with some help from those who click the donate button).

He's also a great coalition leader, sometimes funny, and always interesting to talk to.

Thanks @octal9 -- it's a pleasure sharing this game with you.

    Nice interview.

I'm sure it's already been noted by many others, but the scraping of the preview lead to some inaccurate information on Ixalan cards being incorporated into the current database.

That said, it's certainly a heroic effort and donation of time Octal has made to the game community.

A group of us from TP9 worked the day of the release to correct that. If you find something wrong still please message me in Discord and I’ll get it corrected.

While Octal does a lot of work with initial information, he still depends on all the great MTGPQ communities to help him out (especially when the set that drops isn’t the set we were previewed)

Might have to do mainly with wrong graphics.  I never really click into card details, so having the incorrect (as presented in the card gallery) graphics with the wrong cost/details is throwing me.  I'm sure updating those graphics, since the correct versions don't appear in the gallery still, is an issue.
