MMR Management

Alright, Been looking around the forum. Found some tips about Tanking/MMR Management, still relatively confused. And have questions. If there is a guide, please link it. If not, Post here and I'll try to edit as I go. Feel free to add and/or correct me.

Here is what I understand:
1. MMR is a ranking system in which your victories and loses are all tallied up to match you with people of similar rating.
2. Your MMR is hidden, it can only be estimated by the overall difficulty/level of your chosen PVP opponents.
3. You can intentionally lower you MMR by "sandbagging" PVP matches until the system matches you with filler teams, usually composed of the required character and two lvl 1 one star characters.
4. Your MMR is effected by how much damage you take and/or heal during a match, which will slowly or quickly increase you MMR, respectively.
5. Healing during out of event matches ( ie prologue or otehr events) also increases your MMR.
6. You can considerably lower your MMR by forfeiting or losing matches.

So here are my questions:

1. Why is it called tanking? This is pretty confusing because standard gaming terminology refers to tanking as being able to soak up damage and live for a long time. I informally start a petition to refer to this exercise as "Sandbagging." (I did not come up with the term, nor know its origin, but I got mine from my Super Smash Brothers Melee days) SSBM defined sandbagging as intentionally taking a lose or playing without effort. If you agree, please post "sandbagging" as the first word of your reply and/or vote.

2. Will forfeiting a match lower your MMR by the same amount as a lose? Example: You enter a tournament with three 1* characters and have them all die OR you enter a match with the same characters and forfeit, which lowers MMR the most?

3. Will losing a match with 3* characters lose more MMR than a team of 1* characters?

4. Does your MMR effect the bracket you are placed into when entering the tournaments?

5. Do you lose more MMR with greater event point lose? Example: You lose 40 points to an opponent or you lose 15 against a different opponent, which loses more MMR?

6. Can you manage your MMR to match with filler teams up to a certain level? What are the highest levels of filler teams?

7. Continued. Post your questions and I can add them to the first post, with credit to your name. Thanks for reading. Lemme know what you think.

    1. Tanking is what we've been using since forever. I like it.
    2. As said in another thread, forfeiting (also called the Ghast Method) no longer works. You just missed it! You now need to legitimately lose battles, on offense or defense.
    3. Damage taken is a big factor, so I'm pretty sure that yes.
    4. No, bracket is based on time of entrance. So first 1000 people to enter are in one bracket, next 1000 are in another, and so on.
    5. I am pretty sure that no, it mostly has to do with in-match performance.
    6. "Filler teams," or as they are more commonly called, seed teams, will only appear in the first couple of hours of a tournament, when not enough people have entered to make accurate matchups. After this, your MMR determines it. You can manage it so that you face 1* until about 400,then 2* until about 700-800.
    Hope this helps!
Oh and just saw your request for link to guide, I will try to find one.
EDIT: Well, even though I know it's out there, I can't find the tanking guide. But if you search the word "tanking" in the search box, you'll find plenty of stuff to help you out. Just keep in mind that, like I said, intentionally retreating is barely effective at all any more.

EDIT AGAIN: ok, I found Ghast's article, it no longer applies but is a good read.
