Can we please get rid of the boss system / recharge timers?

Dear Oktagon, @Brigby,

I like playing RGP in its current form, except for one major aspect: the recharge system. I consider myself a serious player, trying to get all objectives whilst having fun trying new decks. Today, the last recharge was when the boss health was at 3%. Recharge time was 17:00 local time. That's a very annoying time as this is dinner time. I don't want my dad in law to kick my butt when I even have the thought of picking up my phone.

I know this issue has been brought up several times by other players, but I haven't seen a formal reaction from either you or Oktagon. If is has, I missed it and I apologize up front.

Can we please change the system of the LAST recharge so that players have at least 10 hours to play the last recharge? Why 10 hours? So that people can finish sleep and / or work no matter where they live and still have time to finish the event(s).

I wasted my perfect RGP score because of external issues. That always leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Thanks for taking time to read this. I hope you also take time to give a response.

Cheers!

I fully understand your issue with the charges; personally I'd prefer to get several charges for an x amount of time. But for RotGP and AM there is also the healthbar that plays the main role in ending the event so that's something that can't be changed by extending the time for the final charge.

I was playing Bolas trying to get more points for my coalition and when I beat him, it said the event had ended before I won and those points would count to my personal total but bot my coalition. I already had reached over 600 before that, though. Oh well.

That would also be a solution that has been voiced several times. Just give the charges up front, set an end time and let players play whenever suits them. That would also make the boss system obsolete. In my opinion, it has no function except being a strange form of random end time.

I agree with your comments, but I quite liked the excitement of the last few minutes. It is unfair and yet you get that little adrenaline burst that you wouldn't get otherwise. So bad so good

But a perfect score in a weekend event doesn't mean anything? I personally am a fan of the current format and RGP is one of the current events that I actually enjoy and don't want to see it changed.

It's a fools errand to ask that everyone love every event style.  I personally *loathe* HoD event, but I'm not going to ask that it be altered dramatically.  PvE are my favorite events by far.

I can just be happy that there's a modest variety of events.

On that note, I'd like to throw out there: would there be a possible event style that doesn't use the node format?  I've been trying to think of something, but I don't have any concrete suggestions yet.  The weekday PvE did break that mold along the format of the original OGW event, and I find that refreshing.  I just wonder if there is something more outside the box that can be done in event style.

@James13 there are a few non charge formats here. Story mode and the legacy PvE formats are just completion of objectives with as many retires as you like. Quick Battle was also unlimited and people were playing 100’s of matches a day to try to stay up top. Some people really liked it, others just didn’t play it.

D3’s sister game, Marvel PuzzleQuest has another system whereby there are not charges but your first play of a node has the most value and then additional runs both increase the strength of the opponent’s team and lower the points awarded, although these are typically for individual ranking and awards and not for coalition events there.

There’s also a PvP arena in Marvel PQ where they give extra strength to specific characters, sometimes “loaning” you a copy if you don’t own that character and then your points per match vary depending on  the rank of the opponent you are playing is ranked relative to your rank. You also get to pick between three different opponents.

They also have a PvE format in Marvel PQ whereby each coalition gets their own copy of the boss to fight and the cumulative damage done by all team members is what determines rewards and rank. Each time you “Defeat” the boss, the whole team gets a progression award and the boss comes back bigger.
