Just pulled Pact of Negation from a basic pack unlike my first masterpiece it can definitely find a home in any deck how would the elite players out there rank it?

Congratulations on opening it from a basic pack :) I have yet to open one from anything other than an elite pack.

But wait... by basic pack do you mean the single card or three cards booster? Because those are the ones usually referred so.

Anyway, Pact seemed awesome in theory. But I don't find myself using it as much as I thought I would. Insidious Will always takes preference for me.

Pact of Negation is a vicious surprise - that can also backfire if you aren't ready for it to drop unexpectedly.  A 2 mana Insidious Will with 5 times the shields is rather annoying.  Especially that forces your opponent to waste a card to get around this (and can buy you time to get set up).

Just make sure that it doesn't drop into the playfield when you're not ready!

Yeah I guess I should clarify that I did pull it from a basic amonkhet pack

I was about to question that considering if you look at the available cards, you can't get masterpieces from the basic boosters.  But congrats!

I think others summed it up, just make sure that you disable whatever spells you have coming afterwards. All in all, I feel like playing on the other side of it (I don't own it myself) that Insidious Will is stronger, largely because it's easier to abuse and doesn't effect your spells.

But the lower cost and higher shield count definitely makes it a powerful card. Just the thing is if you're playing against it, it's really easy to just set the cards in your hand to not cast when filled, and then let the AI counter its own next spell with that support.

Ya the AI plays it very poorly.

I don't own it but I can see a few applications for it. It seems to be good in a deck/color that has limited removal options. Mono-blue in standard for example is limited to frog or bounce spells for creatures and has no options to deal with supports (excluding Insidious Will of course). Combine it with bounce spells for great effect. It could also go well in decks that have a rather high mana curve. Drop it and charge your next large spell and wait for the AI to counter a spell before casting yours. It could even be a nice little buffer against L1 decks that constantly make you discard. It only takes 2 mana to fill and can sit in your first card slot waiting to be discarded; an added bonus here is that extra copies are redundant anyway.

I got my first MP by open free pack too (event reward). It was 'Dark Ritual'. Sadly, my next MP was the same too. Now I've got 5, but only 2 of them are not useless.

Meanwhile I can't pull a mythic from a Premium Pack. Sigh.

I'd pay good money for a masterpiece of my choosing. Even if it was only a 'one time purchase' offer.

I have actually pulled three MPs since booster crafting came. From rewarded packs since I don't buy any until Ixalan comes.
Unfortunately they were Mind's Eye x2 and Shatterstorm, the only two I had before.
Atleast I got alot of orbs but since you can't craft MPs it's annoying to pull dupes so frequently from such a scarce rarity.

How about you just pretend that you pulled 2 brand new legacy mythics instead?
I find that it helps.  :)

its colorless. Colorless. if blue wasnt so damn strong (i.e. cycling) I think pact might be more useful. . But I would LOVE to have pact for my Nahiri x or less damage deck.

I'd be hard pressed to say no to Omniscience, but I really would love to have Black Vise.

I would too. Black Vise is dear to my cold black heart of Paper MTG in the 90'S

I have 5. One is garbage (boots), 1 is hot garbage (gauntlets) one is meh (shatterstorm, which I've pulled 3 of ) then 2 are pretty sweet (chrome mox, and no mercy ) I find it awkward how all over the place their power levels are. Pulling a garbage mp from a regular pack is whatever, but getting one in an elite pack is not fun. One of the many reasons I think they should go the way of the Buffalo

So you think they should be rapidly hunted to near-extinction and then gradually brought back to healthy and sustainable population levels through comprehensive regulatory conservation efforts?
