Few players in TotP or Matchmaking issues?

I think the game will see an influx of players playing ToTP when Ixalan hits. The free booster will be more valuable in the beginning of the set. As long as they make sure to change reward to an Ixalan booster.

Im certain I’m not alone in that thinking (nothing against those who enjoy it) that it’s just not a fun event to play. Add to that the lull of things to spend the rewards on, and the addition of booster crafting, and it makes sense that only a few die-hard fans of the event are still playing it.

You are not alone. I hate TotP. I don't have a desire to convert my Crystals to Jewels and I don't have the time to slog through another event. I did do it over the holidays and it was taxing. I felt like I never put my phone down.

I have a sizable collection of the newer sets, but missing a lot of the rares and most of the mythics from Zendikar and Innistrad. So for me, it’s too much effort for no reward. Too hard and frustrating to pair off against decks vastly superior to my own.

I get why some people enjoy it, but like the vintage/legacy formats in paper magic, I wouldn’t expect much of an influx of players as the barrier to entry and doing well is too high.

I use a Bolas cycling deck for 3 days a week and it takes me about 45 minutes to go to progression.  I’m more likely to skip EC or NoP.  I need those jewels to get a chance at cards like Baral.

I use it to test decks. Some people use the heroic story encounters, I use this.
