How's the grind to get Bolas to 60 going for everyone? Just got mine to 53 last night now the cost is really starting to ramp up

I’m holding at 52.  I’ll get back to him when I’ve leveled a few more PWs.  He’s very powerful at 52.  You miss some hit points, 1 white mana, and 4th levels of his second and third.  For the price of leveling a dual color walker into the 50s or a single color to 60 and another to the 50s.

Mine is chilling in the upper 40's. His first ability giving -3/-3 still can actually be pretty useful for clogging up the board with low power creatures if it doesn't kill them outright. I've got the runes to level him I just haven't decided if I want to bring him up any further.

Pretty tough. I bought him and it took about 3 minutes holding the lvl up button before he hit 60

Likewise gotcha. But we were lucky to be able to grind runes in quick battle.  Them were the days

I know,  right???? That nasty thumb cramp starts to settle in at the 2:15 mark. Those last 45 seconds are torturously painful.  XD

I bought Him and leveled him immediately to 54. Took me about a week to grind the last 6 levels. Most came from events.

No. No they weren't. It was a nightmare for newbies like me when I first started. Grinding piddly puny amounts of runes because I lacked the key cards for wins didn't level squat. Sure the more experienced had it good ... but QB was an unbalanced joke in terns of veteran vs newbs

I actually agree with this. Until a player was mid level they couldn’t even compete in QB. There was no adjustment for tier. That is one thing I like better about TG. Still just one though.

I took mine to 40, then saved up and went from 40-57.  Finally ground out the last bit to L60 in the first week of Jan.

Going to 60 is overrated for many PW.  I have a rune surplus, but have not levelled the majority of my walkers all the way and have no real plans to.  Many are sitting at their last mana upgrade at 48 or so.

I look at the levelling chart and decide where I'm stopping.  The last levels are a big investment for grossly minimal gains in most cases.

I take it that you are mainly looking at deck bonuses and abilities, right? Don't you want to level him to lvl 52 at least, so his first ability would destroy any creature?

Correct.  There has to be a compelling reason to level a PW all the way.  For example, my Ob is 60 because of his ultimate.  My Nahiri and Koth are 60 because having a 60 brawler was required when QB was a thing.

I have not really levelled my Bolas yet.  I see no need for him yet.  I plan to level him some when I can get Imminent Doom from crafting (or if I'm lucky with my modest HoD pack stash awaiting the addition of exclusives to the pool).  When I do, I guess I'd probably go to 52 then stop there.  That ability upgrade is more attractive than others.

I just wanted to chime in that there is not a real reason that you HAVE to go to 60 for most.  It's unnecessary.  48 seems to be a good stopping point for most.  For others that point can be 52.  If an ability is a huge game changer that can shift some (Ob being a prime example).

I'm used to playing matches against walkers that have about 10 levels on me and it never matters.  You have a lot of baked in advantage over the AI.

Had only enough runes to get him to level 47 when he was released, got him to the happy level 52 about a week later.  Now I'm sitting at 58, staring at the mountain to get him to 60 and wondering if it's worth it for those last 2 levels :o

That last extra mana gain makes a huge difference IMO. I was going to leave mine and a teammate convinced me to max him — so glad I did.

I've only been playing since Amonkhet and my Bolas is stuck in mid 30's.

The other dual color PWs I have are high 50's since I'm always short on runes.

Really I'm short on everything so it's ok.

Mine is at 45, and I am currently splitting my runes between him and my Nahiri (also 45) to catch them up with my other dual colored walkers (at 50 currently)

Got mine to 59 some mobths ago, so maxed out, since lvl 60 gives little of value
