Copying from MMORPGs: Use Mez instead of Stun

Here's an idea. Some of the most broken power issues in the game resolve around stuns. MMORPGs have long recognized that stuns are extremely powerful and they tend to restrict them severely. Instead, in many cases, they use Mez as a weaker version that can be used more widely without creating the crazy issues that stuns can.

(For those unaware, Mez is short for Mesmerize, and it refers to an ability which disables an opponent until that opponent takes damage)

So possibly some of the more egregious stuns could be downgraded to mez. Also, implementing a mez function would allow for a greater variety in hero powers.

  • Stun is not an intractable problem so I don't see the point to invent a new mechanism to get around it. All the stuns in the game minus ATU are fairly well balanced for their cost so it's easier to just change the one stun that's obviously out of whack.

    But on the subject of mez, it'd be cool if there are abilities that prevents active abilities/passive abilities from being used. The opponent is not completely disabled but fairly crippled until the ability runs out (can be duration or a special tile).

    I agree with Phantron. Stuns aren't broken -- just Spidey's stun. The only other one that comes close if Modern Black Widow, and she's a squishy 1-star with a maximum level of 40. Even then, you'd need a fountain of blue AP to lock down a team the way Spidey can after a handful of turns.
