    TotP in Platinum gives you almost as many orbs (100 less on average if you have most of the rares) for half the price if you can complete the progression rewards. And after 4-5 weeks you get, at worst, 500 orbs. In Platinum, if you can win enough, it's totally worth it. I'm not there yet (sticking in Silver for awhile, mostly for easier TG) but I hope to be eventually.

    If I get 500 orbs it will be good. Ixalan probably will have good and bad mythics and the worst situation in that  ordinary scenario is spending a month playing TotP and at the end getting a mythic I'll never use it. Besides that I'll lose 2 rare cards in a month.

    Even without the jewels, totp is still the best crystal for pack value you can get in the game (in platinum, assuming you win the 30 crystals), and playing the matches is fun and a challenge.

    i don't plan on buying any packs with crystals till the next set drops and they can be turned to orbs at a higher rate, after that it will be just packs from events and Totp till the next set.

      Well... With the platinum TOTP you get 10 boosters + 200 pinks for 300 crystals.
        With a premium pack you get 5 boosters + a rare for 300 crystals. (a rare that you would probably get from events if you play them top tiers).
       If you are looking for orbs, I think you'll get more with TOTP. 
       But I must confess playing TOTP requires time... 80 games to get 5 boosters and a few pinks... It's not well paid neither.
