I don't know anyone who actually got a mythic from the Holiday elite pack, but my luck with elites has generally been pretty horrible.  400 purple crystal elites have consistently netted me the worst mythic of the collection.

    »Here is a gift«
    »I don’t like it, [redacted]«

    Mindset.
more like disappointment at the possibility of getting something great (ex: a masterpiece) but instead a cruddy dupe, that's how I feel at least.

I do appreciate the extra 100 orbs though.

You do know it was a rare+ pack, not a mythic + pack, right?  Rare + packs almost always give rares.  I've only heard of a handful of occasions when they did not.  Not sure why you're so surprised....

I actually pulled a mythic (Myriarch) the first time around, and a masterpiece (Armageddon) for Christmas.  Good thing they aren’t dependent events, or else you guys would be hosed!

I don't really mind that I pulled rares. They were free. I like free stuff. What I find particularly weird, though, is that between my main and my alt I got 4 copies of the same rare. I have magical dupe powers, though. Makes me giggle

Knowing the drop rates helps.  If you know that four out of five 120 jewel elite packs contain a rare, and you get a rare, it doesn't really make sense to be too disappointed.

(Our best guess with current data is that the 120 jewel packs give 79-80% chance of rare, 19-20% chance of mythic, and 1% chance of masterpiece.)
Yeah I figured the chance of me getting something juicy was slim.  I'm probably just salty because I'm yet to get anything really good from an elite pack (100 pack = cruddiest rare followed by dupes.  400 pack = cruddiest mythic followed by dupes) since their creation.  I have horrible gambling luck ;)

Yeah, that's how I usually feel.  But when I see a a set with all the masterpiece swords (sword of fire and ice oh how I long for you) and a bunch of cool mythics, with only 1 mythic that I already have.  I'm like "what are the chances I'll actually get a mythic dupe?"

...moral of the story is I shouldn't have taken the bait and bought the elite pack...

i didnt take the bait, i buy it when i have the purple crystals through other events not buying them. so just a slow grind to get them and hope for the best

I got a rare. Wasn't a dupe so I'm happy. It was a free gift after all.
I can understand complaining about free stuff being taken away (like if they took away the daily log in rewards) but complaining about the contents of a free gift is baffling to me.
They did not have to give us anything. It was a generous move from D3 imo and I am grateful to them.

It's not really too baffling if you think about it.  I just answered your question on another thread:

I read that. I think you make a good point.

While it may not translate to the game, IRL I try to teach my kids to be appreciative and grateful for the things they have and the things they receive. There would never dream of complaining about a gift

I definitely can agree with you that appreciation for gifts are a good thing :)

Yes, this is -exactly- the weird situation. I have a family of four who play and 2 more alt accounts included. They are _only_ linked by the ip address they connect by really. Some weird mix of referrals maybe but...

My wife got 3 copies of Champion of Wits between her main and dupe. The kids and I all got Annointed Zombie in the same pull.

I _know_ these things can happen in random and the actual drop rates are as expected, but some of the clumping of specific cards for specific groups of people seems very odd.

The RNG needs to be seirously investigated by Oktagon "just in case" so they can rule out any Hibernum "issues" and reassure us for the future.
