Win of the Week?

In HoR this week I played a cycling lockdown Dovin on the red node, no creatures. I hung in for 99 turns and had 8 creature kills courtesy of Lay Claim in the deck stealing my creatures over and over. Took no damage despite the 8 steals -- Won with all objectives.

What was your "I can't believe I did that" moment this week?

I was down to 2 health against an Omniscience Sarkhan deck that had gone semi-infinite with Harness the Storm, Behold the Beyond, and From under the Floorboards.  He ended up with a massive pile of zombies.  Finally ended when he got stuck with a full hand and nothing to cast.  I won 3 turns later (killed the zombies, and then got my Approach combo out).  Still not sure how I got a win

I have two, but only time go into detail about 1.

Tuesday Bluesday (Trial of the Planes)

My Nessa III (Lvl 36) VS. Bolas
This was so insane that I wrote down the cards I saw cast in my opponent's build.
    • Omniscence
    • Whir of Invention
    • Hezoret's Undying Fury
    • Harness the Storm
    • Inferno Jet
    • Bring to Light
Wish I had some of these :'(

After several minutes of waiting, I got up to refresh my nightcap.
I returned to find no Omniscience on the board, 0 enemy critters, a Harness the Storm with over 20 charges, and Bolas' entire hand full and charged, of what I can only assume were support destruction spells.
I had no supports in play and only 2 critters down (so they weren't kill spells).
I assumed that the direct damage would've done me in, but dumb luck prevailed.
After blowing up the board and having my 3 favorite zombies boost each other, I managed to scrape out a win.

My Eternal/Embalm Zombies: Vizier of Many Faces, Resilient Khenra, and Honered Hydra

The other crazy win was in training ground where Kiora dropped a 4x reinforced Gaea's Revenge on the 3rd or 4th turn and scared the **** out of me.

Ob, starting with three lost legacies. It was hilarious watching him get beat down while doing nothing as I built up mana and loyalty to unleash 144 damage and wipe the opponent out. Too bad it was in TG.

Coming back from 2hp against a koth with Kiora to drop his 90 hp to zero, thanks to setting up his cascades against him with Prism Array.

I was using a big creature nahiri build. I was getting pounded by a saheeli deck that was able to rekill my metalwork colossus every turn. I was on the verge of rage quitting, but decided to just play it out. It wasn't looking good for me, but I had time. Between metalwork and angel of sanctions coming back, I was hopeful that I would run him out of resources. I was in range of dying to her ult, but Greg just kept making thopters. I eventually got to attack, then I eventually ran Greg out of answers. The whole thing wore me out, but I eventually pulled it out. Boned the objectives, but I'll take -3 over -7 any day

Turn 1 win (cycling + three or four 'match 5's) against Nicol Bolas... I even started taking screenshots, but got bored after around 100 dmg...
Also, a tight match in NoP - Dovin vs. WG Ajani, I got hit with Overwhelming Splendor, Orbs of Warding and two Cast Outs, responded with my three Cast Outs and Dovin's ultimate that pumped my last live creature to a total of 20/20 and rode to victory from 9hp...

My moment was a series of games during the Red Trials of the Planeswalkers. I had been playing terribly in the early nodes, as well as having some aweful luck. I was down to salvaging this by basically needing to get perfect wins on the final 2 nodes so as to gain the “refund” back. Well...I HUFfed and puffed and pulled 6 wins out of my butt thanks to that spell and Masticore.

Every game I win with my current Dovin deck has been a win of the week because I took out Unesh and added Vizier. It's fun!

17 creatures killed. All mine. Stolen by a creature-less kiora on the red node. Total number of turns 143. Zero damage. That was a long turn on the loo in the morning. Folks were concerned.  :D

But I could believe it because I am aware of the awesome resilience of my nyx-lockdown AJ1 deck. :p
