Pre-Nerf Abilities

Alright guys, sorry to be a n00b, but I joined in late December, so I never got to experience some of the older versions of abilities. I have gathered that some abilities were nerfed, but after some digging was unable to find out more information, and I am interested to know what they were before that made them so powerful.
So...
...what was Classic Storm's yellow before it was nerfed?
...what about Loki's abilities? (I gather he was insanely, ridiculously powerful?)
...what about Spiderman's purple (this one was buffed, right?)
...any other noticeable changes I should know about?
Can any of you veterans out there help me with this?
(Yes, I know about the Ragnarok nerf icon_e_ugeek.gif )

  • Storm's yellow dealt the same damage with her blue , and also generated 5 red ap
Loki's purple changed the colors of random tiles
Spidey's purple was kinda like Falcon's blue, but only activated when he got hit with some web tiles required

    Yeah, this is essentially correct.

Storm did about 1800 damage to everybody and generated red AP when a party member was hit for >20%, though I think it might have been more than 5 at max level. This had a half-nerf when damage was capped to your hero's health.
Loki changed a whole bunch of tiles to purple, I think it was of certain color, though...all of the green/yellow, maybe? I remember it being anti-Thor.
If spidey was hit for >10% of his health and had a certain number of web tiles out (like, seriously, a lot...I think it was like 5 web tiles at level 3), he would remove one countdown tile from the board. Whenever this triggered, players would be really confused, since it only happened once every couple hundred matches.

Reaching back to wayyyyyyyyyy early October, IM35's red was changed to being more AP for more damage (similar treatment to Rag's red, but not as severe.)

I don't recall anything else significant that was before the Rag nerf.

Ok, thanks. Good to know! That CStorm Yellow does seem really overpowered...
  • Most of this is floating around the forums, it might be interesting to put together a nerf/buff history

Looks like MN Mags got some kind of change in September:

And Classic Hawkeye used to cost between 21 (level 1) and 18 AP (level 5) for ONE critical tile

Oh yeah, the Classic Hawkeye change. It actually used to overwrite most (all?) any type of tile, so you'd be able to get rid of countdowns a lot better. When they made it cheaper, they made it only do basic tiles. I actually used the old version a bit during the prologue.

C.Storm's yellow was epically broken. You could take the default character the game gave you (in some events) and throw him at any match damage and it would trigger her yellow. Which also would generate 5 red. Which made her and Thor best friends.

You could end matches in less than 40 seconds without taking any damage to your main characters.

Not that taking damage was a concern, because every time you leveled a character they were instantly healed.

Edited the character discussion threads for all the characters that I could get data on. I'm sure we have some really old school data for the Loki and Iron Man changes, but those were done pre full launch so they don't have Patch Notes associated with them. The Magneto (Marvel NOW!) changes were just bug fixes, his powers weren't working as described.

Also, with the way boosts used to work, they'd ALWAYS take enviro matches
  • Take Aim used to overwrite any tile even at level 1, though that's not exactly saying much given its cost.
  • Hawkeye's change was accompanied with a change to Venom.

Does anyone remember the 1-day Hawkeye change? Or am I imagining things? They increased the AP cost of his arrow stab and gave it scaling damage, but then quickly reverted it.

Also, Spidey originally didn't have a purple ability. The only character iirc to get an added skill (I don't count obw because it was originally planned and so merely delayed).

The Hood also got Intimidation, didn't start with that.

keep in mind with the old one it didn't trigger if she was attacked though. Only the other two guys. So any match with storm you absolutely always had to take her out first.
  • I remember venom would insta kill all 3 character from 1 devour with 8 web tile out on board. Super OP.

    Holy tinykitty...

Did level 5 override the normal behavior or it still devoured a single target if used with 5 web tiles?
  • And lo, though it was a bug, and thus was not a buff, and neither was it a nerf, let us remember the period of seven days, six being the number of his claws and on the seventh day he regenerated, in which the bladed one, in his rage, granted all of his strength to his followers, and deprived his enemies of their might.

I there was between 5 and 7 tiles, it would devour one enemy.
  • Speaking of nerfs, what did 2* thor and wolverine used to be like?
