Peter Parker or Thor Gladiator?

Is either one outright better than the other?  Is there a general consensus on Thor yet?

I have a large hoard to eventually crack, and am trying to decide if I should spend them on PP/DD/Gambit or DD/Gambit/Thor.  I'm still a 4* player but have Thanos, BP, and Strange max covered (was waiting to be able to champ five or six 5*s at the same time so I have more diverse playing options) and Phoenix at 11 covers.

Given my selection of ready/almost ready 5*s, it'd seem Peter Parker would be better to acquire since that would give me another blue power to use?

He is not out yet so there is no consensus and he is being overshadowed by Gambit at the moment so don't expect any good information until a week or two after his release.  Personally I think Thor looks really solid and it looks like he hits like a tank but he may be on the slow side.  That is just my impression on reading his powers.  Spider many is fairly fast especially when paired with MM and he hits very hard as well.  I frankly don't think you will go wrong with either one but Gambit is the hot 5 at the moment.  Honestly if you are not well into 4 star land you dont want to max any 5's anyway :)

So now that Thor Gladiator is out (or at least previewable in the roster), any one with anymore insights?  Looks like at 450 (with 5 covers in the respective colours), his green will be about 12k AOE, red 12k with potential for 6.5k extra, and yellow about 26k?

I'm not an authority on the subject by any means, but I'd probably favor Thor. Parker needs to either get webs from someone else or fire his blue repeatedly to get the most out of his powers, whereas Thor appears to stand pretty well on his own.

Also, unless I'm missing somebody, Thor looks like the first 5* that will be able to reliably produce lots of protect tiles; Goblin can make them but the other effects on his purple are better, Steve can make a couple but his yellow is a bit costly and he seems to otherwise be considered low tier.

Normally protects are a weak tile type, but their main use is negating match damage, which matters a lot more in 5* territory than in lower tiers. Just ask my full-health Banner that got liquefied by a single cascade in a match earlier today. You'll want to ditch Thor's repeater at some point during the match and cash in for mega strike damage, but it will probably pay to keep the protects around until you're ready to wipe the enemy team, if possible.

The passive benefit of waiting for Thor means you'll get to increase your hoard potential by another 2-3 weeks.  More pulls means more options, like maybe rostering an additional Gambit with 5/0/5 to specifically pair with red users like Thor.

This is close to my plan but I was thinking about building a 5/0/5 and a 0/5/5 Gambit on the side. I pretty sure it will pay off at some point or at least be really fun to use.

By the time more people build exploitative Gambits, they will nerf his uses in that regard.

I'm in the same pool as the OP, with probably a smaller hoard, but still near 180+ pulls when Thor rolls in.
I chose to wait for Thor over Parker since I want the flexibility of not relying on other web tile makers.

Not sure where you got the idea that 5* Spidey needs web tile generators to be effective. He's pretty good at making them himself and can totally hold his own.

Miles/Gwen certainly speed him up but its not like theyre essential either.
