Trap vs. Repeater tiles.

So the Elektra vs. Blade battle made me think about the difference between trap and repeater tiles. Why do both exist when they have the same mechanics?

Elektra's trap tile:
Deal damahe each turn and steal an AP as long as the trap tile is on the board.

Blade's repeater tile:
Steal AP each turn as long as it's on the board.

I can see why they wanted to create a difference between tiles that count down and disappear at zero and tiles that countdown and repeat at zero (hence repeater tiles) but why didn't the make them into traps instead?
In what situations could a trap tile not do the same thing as a repeater tile?

From my view they could remove the repeater code and still have the same function with existing (trap) code.

Traps are invisible to the enemy

Traps are susceptible to enemy skills that target basic tiles (for example, 3* Blade or Daken can easily overwrite red enemy traps with their passives)

Punisher's Molotov Cocktail creates a repeater tile that activates once every 2-3 turns.
