Possibly a stupid Q. What's with the red icon?

In PvP events why are some icons red when selecting from your 3 or 5 targets? Is it related to difficulty? I know I've handily beaten red icons with no boosts.

Thanks, and sorry in advanced if this has been answered or is too obvious. I couldn't find an answer when I searched.

    No worries, the red icon means that someone attacked you and won, which caused you to lose points. This person then shows up on your queue as the red node so that you can retaliate against him and get your points back.

    By the way, please don't feel discouraged to ask a question if you think it is "stupid" because their is almost no such thing. We as a community take pride in helping others. We've all been their and know how it feels, luckily, we all got our answers and we can now pass it along to others who are in the same spot we were once in.
