A Small Poem

This game used to make me happy
But now it makes me sad
People are dissatisfied
Too much of it is bad
As I try to maximize my play
I try too to feel glad
But alas...
This game used to make me happy
But now it makes me sad

The much detested scaling
Is making it too hard
Some people just cannot compete
From whole events they might be barred
While others have low-levels
So, with the utmost fond regard
I say...
This game used to make me happy
But now it makes me sad

As I look upon discourses old
The forums were resounding
With praise and positive goodwill
The difference is astounding
For when I look at topics now
Woes, people are expounding
You see...
This game used to make me happy
But now it makes me sad

As I was playing an event
I said to myself "Why?
Why do make an effort?
Why do I even try?"
And then I went right back to playing
As I heaved a heavy sigh
And thought...
This game used to make me happy
But now it makes me sad

The developers aren't listening
At least it seems to be
And all of their decisions
Seem to be monetary
Things like boosts and LR tokens
Are the things that make me see
That...
This game used to make me happy
But now it makes me sad

PvE is just a slog
For which optimal play
Requires too much planning
Sometimes involving one's whole day!

3* covers are more tough to get
And 2*s nonexistent
Making greater power levels
To most players seem too distant

Alliances are fairly nice
But whatever might it mean
That some single-player covers
Are now given to a team?

In PvP, attacks are brutal
Unless one has a shield
If one wants to keep MMR down
Characters must not be healed

All of this just seems screwed up
With fundamental flaws
But I'm going to stick with it
I'll do my best, because...

When I use some different characters
I have so much more fun!
I really do enjoy it
When I don't try for number one

So maybe I can just relax
And have a good ol' time
Not worrying about my placement
Leaderboards I WILL NOT CLIMB!

The basic match-3 premise
Is really fun to do
And having different powers
Brings some freshness to it, too

So here I go, I'm setting off
Into the wild blue yonder
And as I go, I start to think
I cannot help but wonder:
This game used to make me happy-
Perhaps it can again?

This game used to make me happy
And I hope it will again

  • Wow, TheUnwiseOne making a serious thread, now this thread not from him! What is going on in the world?

I like the sentiment at the end, about playing just for the sake of playing and giving up on winning. I think it's something most of us could do. The tough part is that means letting down your friends in your alliance or leaving them, both of which options seem like a bummer. Good luck to you, DP, find your fun again!

  • Ooh, a short little poem. I'll read your little lymric or haiku or whatever and then *glances at page*

    LIAR!!!!

EDIT: also, second line 2nd to last..stanza? God its been forever. Anyway, change it to "Into wild yonder blue." I wouldn't mention it except you clearly kept it at 6 syllables basically throught and then threw iy away there with what you put. Up to you though of course...lair lol.

Double edit: nvm, the syllables are all over the place...do as you wish lol.
