How much $$ to get every card in this game?

All of the money

Well literally cannot get the pie network at the moment, so there's that1
-
someone calculated it, it was $ 150.000,= if I remember correctly0
-
Any such calculation needs to be accompanied by a confidence level.
Theoretically you could spend the world's gdp and not get the full set.3 -
It would be cheapest to just buy D3.
Then you could rename it Duel Monsters, Call yourself Pegasus, and do whatever you want!
Did I get carried away again?4 -

Save your money. The cards have an expiration date (ie. Standard).0
-
there's no way to get all the cards, I'm putting my foil cap on and suggesting that there is an algorithm or some such that make different cards for different people impossible to pull.0
-
So assuming the drop rates are correctly stated on this website (which should be very close with a lot of data entered), I believe Volrak calculated of an entire set (including masterpeices) to have a 50% chance of getting all of the cards you would have to spend about $8000 at the current rate. I think without masterpeices it was $1600? This was looking at the AKH set I believe. It will change based on the number of mythics/masterpeices in the set.
Anyway, the answer is way way too much. But yea, many of us agree that MTG is a collectible game at its core, and really don't understand the draw back to making MTGPQ tap into this fanaticism.

I don't really think you could get a reliable calculation. The means by which you acquire cards is too random. Let's say they give you a pie network again this Christmas, just the amount you would have to spend on the kaladesh masterpieces, alone would give you a nosebleed. And drop rates on mythics ain't pretty, either. I'm just going to call it nigh impossible0

@Volrak I assume @Sirchombli comments is a challenge...
And I am sure you get us a pretty good idea of how much would be needed...
Also I am pretty curious about that.0 -
Eh, alright then.
Assuming buying packs with crystals, and crystals with cash, these are average costs in AU$, depending on whether you're satisfied with having all rares, all mythics, or all masterpieces. (You can work out the cost in other currencies based on what you get charged for the required number of crystals.)All Rares All Mythics All Masterpieces
Num unique cards at rarity: 314 183 40
Avg drops at rarity needed: 1980 1055 171
Avg 5-packs needed: 4.9k 22k 60k
Avg cost in crystals: 0.3m 1.3m 3.6m
Avg cost in AU$: $15,600 $71,400 $192,000
They're only averages, so as Sirchombli may be alluding to, some players would pay significantly less and others significantly more, depending on usual RNG luck.
[EDIT: Divided by 5, because 5-packs have 5 cards in them!]

I have to say I don't follow some of your math. Why does it cost 1.5 M to buy 49k packs but 6.7M to buy 112k packs? Buying 2.29x (112/49) as many packs costs 4.47x (6.7/1.5) as many crystals?
Also not sure how you got to the crystal costs in the first place. If you need 49,000 packs you could buy 49k/5 = 9.8k premium packs at 300 crystals a piece = 2,940,000 crystals.. right?
Anyway, my base case is that my math sucks and that you did this correctly, I am just having a hard time reconciling what it would cost in USD because the numbers are confusing me.

And the big error which snuck through unnoticed is in the avg 5-packs needed row - it's showing number of cards from 5-packs, rather than number of 5-packs, and needs to be divided by 5. So the final costs are also divided by 5. (That's what I get for trying to rush my maths after midnight. :P)babar3355 said:Hey @Volrak, is this is correct that is absolutely absurd. $1,000,000+ just for a 50% chance of getting all of the masterpeices?
