Rankings in Strange Sights very low

Did I hit a weird shard or are the Ranking numbers unusually low for this event?

The dailies are normally lower than normal but not THIS low plus the whole event is actually being lead by someone who isn't cheating. (they have a score that is mathematically possible).  I actually made top 4 for shard by clearing nodes and nothing else. Normally that it is hard to make top 50 with that.  I don't remember the last time I saw top 10 scores this low.

Possible Theories:

Is 4* Iron First that unpopular?
Do all cheaters live in Houston?
Do cheaters observe Labor Day?

I don't think anyone is seriously contending for the rewards because the next event has Sandman and Doc Ock as the featured characters. Sandman sucks, Doc Ock sucks and Doc Ock gives you Carnage who also sucks. Hype is very very low, also they broke Kaecellius where to now not that many people can fight him effectively.

I experienced the same thing and also finished 4th.

My guess is the sandman rewards and people throwing their toys out of the pram due to the Kaecellius changes.

    P. S. Sandman does suck, after progression from deadlock pve my sm will be 3/5/5 and I don't think I'm gonna bother putting iso into him. Doc oc is niche but doesn't suck. And carnage doesn't suck when you have medussa.

I got 4th overall, despite a bad start in my first sub (only got a 7th clear on one node, green checks on everything but the final wave node which crashed on me and the initial loaner node, which I didn't even get down to zero).

It's probably a combination of holiday weekend, undesirable rewards, and frustration with the Kaecillius change.

I know Sandman isn't a great character, but mine will have gone from 2/3/2 to 3/4/4 by the end of DP vs. MPQ. I'll take four 4* covers for any character, anytime, especially while I'm hoarding.

Yeah, I'm usually t50, but I'm hopeful that I'll make t10 this time. I don't actually have Sandman rostered right now, so I'd like to get at least one Cover for him so I can do his Node in the first Sub.

The thing with Sandman is that Riri was bad too but BANG they revised her almost immediately and suddenly she rocked.  It really doesn't make sense to ignore characters since the DEVs seem to randomly pick ones to buff/fix.

Although it would be nice if they created a few more really awful characters (like 1* Venom) so they didn't have to keep recycling the same ones for events.  How hard can it be to make characters with no redeeming qualities on purpose?

I do have to agree this event's boss Special K, s*cks hard though.  Do they even do one run through before they release this stuff?

Seriously though, this looks like it is programmed overseas, these are exactly the kinds of problems you have if you don't know how to communicate with overseas assets and product test.  Just a guess but I've seen a lot of this as part of my job.  A programmer who plays the game doesn't make these kinds of mistakes, it requires a company to do that LOL.

If you're referring to ranking higher (or lower in your terminology) in the sub-events, that may just be because of the nature of Strange Sights. If it works the way I think it does (and it may well not work that way), you're only competing against 1/3 (on average) of the players in your slice per sub-event, so your ranking will be higher than normal. If you're talking about overall ranking, I'm not sure why you are doing better than normal.

I finished top-10, top-3, top-10 in the three subparts, which is high for me (I don't think I've ever finished top-3). Overall, however, I only finished 14th, which is lower than normal, considering how I played. I did the first four clears in under an hour and the started the last three an hour before the end . In the past, that's always been good enough for top-10 overall in my slice and SCL (I used to play SCL-8, now I play 7 or 8, depending on the event - this time I played 7). In the PvE before this one, I only played a bit more optimally (final clears in 45-50 minutes), but finished 7th. Not sure why I finished lower than expected overall. Maybe the new standard 4* team of Gamora/Grocket/Medusa has established a new standard in rankings (I really started noticing this team in the last few weeks, and now it seems that it makes up 90% of  late-stage PvP teams at my level. I don't really think that's it however.

Yeah, the way the Brackets for the Subs get populated separately depending on who picks which one on which day makes for weird results. I managed t10 in all three Subs, but only 16th overall.
