To be fair, I don't think SI will be ungodly broken once whir of invention rotates out of standard.  And if Ixalan isn't delayed too long maybe the problem will fix itself form that perspective.

so a good solution is that it does not give any mana to other copies of itself

This only accomplishes so much. There are cards that can be cast with them that change gems which then generates mana.
Omniscience has a cmc of 10 in mtg, in mtgpq its cost should be way higher than 17.
So in addition to not being able to cast itself, its cost should be bumped up to like 30.

Omniscience + Pan Harmonicon + Baddies + Whir of Invention = Instant Lose.

Just happened to me in TotP. Omniscience is a dumb card. It needs a fix.

Both those cards have it so when its ability is triggered that support loses a shield
so they are not endless but limited to cards in hand, however there are many ways to draw cards upon a spell casting.
In the case of omniscience it is easy to abuse since it can recast itself, so a good solution is that it does not give any mana to other copies of itself.

New Perspectives, Drake Haven and Faith of the Devoted need to have this mechanic (shield loss upon trigger) added to them so cycling is not broken.
The broken part of cycling is _not_ the same, the broken part of cycling is the way mana is dealt with. It was _always_ problematic but cycling really reveals the initial broken behaviour. People are blaming cycling but it's not cycling's fault.

New Perspectives puts mana on all cycling cards. Bontu's Monument puts it on all black creatures.
But neither of these cards are meant to work this way at all.
NP is meant to reduce the cost of cycling. They _have_ the technology to reduct the costs of certain cards and activities or to increase them, if they just did this things would be better.

The problem is that if I just have mana on something I can use it any way I want. But I'm not meant to be able to.
I can use Bontu to put mana on black cycling creatures and use it to power the cycling. I can get infinite cycling with bontu's/alharramet's archive/faith of the devoted but this combination _shouldn't_ work. The Bontu's monument should ONLY help casting the creatures, the true implementation is to reduce the creatures casting cost while it is in play, not to give mana to anything at all ever.

NP gives mana to cycling cards instead of reducing the cycling cost explicitly. Again, I can use this mana however I want.

Blue/Green Nissa putting mana on cards is also automatically broken.
Kiora putting mana on the summoned creature is probably broken too, it should be reducing the casting cast instead like Jace1's second ability.

They _have_ the tools to fix this, the implications of the current system were just never thought of. They forced it in to get cycling to work but it's not the right approach.

With the transition to the new development team (if there is one), I'm sure these card issues will never be dealt with.

I've been trying to break Omniscience for weeks and have yet to make endless turns. Just saying.

I did, however, manage to put out 8 GR in one turn several times, so that was awesome.
