5* Thanos, worth 1440 CP?

I've been saving, I'm two covers short.  Is he still top tier?  Concerns of nerf?  

I currently have a 457 Hawkeye, 450 OML, 450 PHX, cover maxed Panther and 1/5/5 Thanos.

The general consensus I've seen from 5* players, if you want to be t5 competitive Thanos is a must. I'm not there but I constantly fight undercovered, underleveled Thanos in Versus. Court death is almost always a match ender....

Also, I think he consumes too many health packs to earn a nerf.

I'd say yes. If you can down one opponent with Thanos on the team you've basically won. New release events are a total joke - make 3-4 matches to kill the loaner, laugh as the ensuing AOE knocks 15k off the remaining opponents and gets you a free turn.

Pairing him with Panther makes it even more ridiculous since he stuns your team, which will trigger Panther's red as well. This is why 95% of PVP opponents at the 5* level are Panthos teams. Get one kill, get a truckload of free damage at the cost of some negligible damage to your own team.

And, yeah, I doubt he'll ever be nerfed due to his health consumption. His other powers, while occasionally annoying (or useful if you're the one using him) aren't nearly as game-changing - green does a ton of damage but you do have to protect a 3-turn CD which is sometimes troublesome. Purple is mainly useful for the board lockout - the extra match damage, while nice, doesn't usually make or break anything unless you get a critical.

Don't have this pair myself, but I'd say it would be worth it. Panthos is the 5* meta right now and probably will always be. I had a couple alliance mates who have Panthos complaining about Last Defender and I had 4 or 5 defensive wins in that event with OML/PHX. So if there's a nerf for Panthos, it just might be 4* PvP.

I am only at 4* level, but I also use Panthos combo in my PvE matches (well used to, before covering Grocket). But still they are my top 5* right now, with Panther being favored. 
I would also say he is very good and worth the CP. Hawkeye should make his green fortified most of the time, and I find him to be a good partner to Panthos (at least in my limited experience).

So my Thanos is at 5/4/3 and my BP is at 5/4/2.  With only 2 red for BP would it be leveling them both to 360?  I'm definatelly planning that for Thanos but not sure how much focus to put on BP.

Idk, BP red is pretty spectacular in this setup. I use my champed BP with a 2/0/4 lvl270 Thanos in PvE and it's effective because BP red can kill anything in rank 8 with his red. I use Thanos for the stun. It's not as fast as double champed, but it still works fine for what I want.

I did, though I was clueless to the bug until after.  I pulled a large number (like 30-40) trying to test the H4H store change and saw I was getting like 35% 5*s and thought I was just lucky, let's keep this ball rolling!  So I pulled another 30-40 and got like 25% on those.  After 83 pulls got 30% average.  One top of that the 5*s I got were disproportionately good ones vs bad ones.  Thanos went from 2/3/2 to 5/4/3 in one day, BP from 4/4/0 to 5/4/2 in one day, it was good day...

Thanos is a really great time-saver all around.  "Court Death" seriously shortens matches, in some cases it allows you to make trivial clears in, literally, 30 seconds.  He's also great for hopping - his natural partner is BP (who does "Move or Be Moved" after every kill,) but there are other good ones, I think.

If I were in your position I'd probably go for it.

As far as the bugged Classics went, I think I draw three at the time - got one Silver Surfer (black, unfortunately, for my 4/3/5 Surfer,) and one Hawkeye (who was champed, but had no extra levels.  That was nice.)  Pretty cool, I didn't even know they were bugged at the time, I was just going for Medusa and Agent Venom before they left.

5* Thanos is great.

If your opponent doesn't have strong teams/characters, just having Thanos will make them reconsider in PvP.

I now have him at 2/5/5 after getting a bonus hero from about 16 Hornhead tokens (sadly I didn't go 3/5/4 but at least it wasn't a dupe) - now it is 720cp to finish him off, I  will probably do it

I used panthos with 5* iron man in PVE as previous when time is short I just send them in & watch them fall in double quick time. Is he worth the command points..... Probably but yes a hard choice

I'd set him as bonus hero, keep 1440cp in reserve, and buy the covers once you pull an unusable 6th.
It's unlikely you'll ever finish him from classics, color locked at 1/5/5
