account recovery

I recently bought a new phone and I was wondering if there is a way to recover an account. I backed up everything on my old phone to my Google account, along with the games, and I thought that everything would be saved along with it. The game was reinstalled on my new phone but all my game progress is lost. Is there anyway to get it back? If not I'm probably done with game because I was so far ahead and I do not want to restart.

This is by far my favorite game in the play store. Ever since I started playing I haven't played any other game so I hope something can be worked out.
