Is it worth coming back yet?

I'm a fool and I keep giving MtG:PQ second chances, mostly because of the horrendous amount of time and money I've sunk into the game.

Can anyone tell me if the meta changed at all (for the better) with recent developments and HoD?
Am I still going to lose every game I play against Koth, reliably using the same few mythics everytime?
Are drop rates still a joke? Has anything been done yet to help the duplicates issue?
Is the booster system still a fruit machine? Are they still selling mythic cards for upwards of £40?

Can I afford to keep playing?

Some new features here and there. However, Duplicates are still a major issue. Right now MtGPQ is still a pure grind without much reward.

Lets hope that the crafting system will bring some fresh wind into it.

otherwise it's just another Match3 game with some magic flavor.

Things, for me, have been worse since the last expansion.  I haven't seen a mythic drop in about 5 weeks, the rares I have got from events are the lower tier rares, and have about 6 of them and have gotten dupes as rewards from events.  Cascading on part of the AI is out of control and the AI making matches for 50+ mana each turn is still predictable.  If you doubt this is coded intentionally - go back to the first few story modes and replay trying to get secondary awards.  It takes forever for the AI to put anything on the board.  Used crystals to buy the 'enhanced' drop rate premium pack for new cards over that weekend - one rare....a dupe of one of the other 5 rares I had at the time.

AKH I had seen a higher than normal drop rate and was happy on playing then.  My theory is that they knew the next expansion (HOD) was coming on short order and upped the rates for that expansion because they knew more cards were coming for people to buy and did not need to worry about the longevity of the cards for the next expansion.  I don't know when the next card expansion is, but with the crafting (which I expect to be a colossal disappointment) being next, I think it will be a while and they lowered the drop rates to get more longevity out of HOD.

The lowering of the entry cost of the Trials is good, but the game's difficulty has been noticeably ramped up in the trials I played from the week before, at least for me.  Me tinfoil hat?  Maybe, but I have been playing over a year and notice the trends.

Instead of this game being one I love to hate, it has become one I hate to not be able to delete for good.  Then again, that is the model they subscribe to - forget the players - they're too stupid or addicted to not come back.

My advice - if you broke free of chasing your tail in this game - stay out.

Sound advice, thanks. I remember far too many late nights grinding for little reward. First thing every morning and a hundred times throughout the day...
I'm not sure what was so addictive about the game but I'm probably better off.

Yeah, from a cost/benefit, risk/reward standpoint, I'd have to say you're probably better off. Using today as an example, I finally accumulated enough jewels to get a premium pack and all I got out of it was a bogus dupe rare.  Between that, the schizo AI and general lack of content things are just generally unpleasant at the moment.

And before the apologists climb up my backside for the lack of content statement: yes, I'm aware that there are tons of events going on at any given moment.  Tons of events against pretty much the same 5 or 6 decks. Story mode is pointless. Color mastery/card leveling once everything is at platinum is also useless.

Personally, I uninstalled it again today and probably won't be back until (and if) the crafting system is implemented, and if I'm right, I'll probably only stick around for a couple of weeks after I render down all of my duplicates, because I doubt that the game will be significantly different from what it is now.

Balance is better than it has been in a while, if you ignore cycling.  Of course the ai can't cycle.  That's right, an ai only game doesn't understand the basics of the current meta.

Deck slots are a nice addition and filtering cards actually works decently now.

However, rewards have been lessened across the board, you get less for your money than ever and dupes are as rampant as ever.

Yeah, sad to say but the game experience has boiled down to a meaningless grind.

Which is quite a statement if you consider the days of Quick Battles

I told myself I wouldn't come back to this game until they took starting deck cards out of boosters. That pretty much encompasses they way these guys treat their customers. Sell you something you already bought...

Lol you can't be serious. Or have you forgotten the grind required for QB.

Yes, it was a grind but you in the top 100 you got a Rare. Also drop rates weee better. So for me it was at least a Rewarding grind

Worth it is completely subjective. Drop rates aren't any better, big pve charge times are still miserable, cycling is still a thing, packs are still dupe city. In short, it's still mtgpq. Either you enjoy the game and play it, or you don't. It's still the exact same game it was before hou. It's not going to magically turn to value town. You gotta have realistic expectations. If you stopped playing because of any of the above listed issues, you'll just be disgruntled all over again if you come back. It's just a game. Have fun with it. That's my take

Definitely wait and see if a new dev team start working on it after the last one left.
