So....Can I level my Classic Magneto?

I've got all the covers for a max level Magneto. I'd love to level him up to 141 (currently 80) but I don't want to spend the massive amount of ISO on a character that will be possibly changed drastically to become useless/irrelevant. Does anyone have insight on this or recommendations? Thank you
