A Little Less Obvious Please......

This is a generalized Rant.

I’ve been playing now for 6 months at least. Have several nice maxed char etc and can do fairly well in most comps. The only annoyance I have with the game is when it goes into, “ screw you “ mode. When for some unknown reason it doesn’t matter what you do or how you play you get wiped over and over.

Is there some predestinated coding sequence that looks at how many wins you have had then decides to even it up again? Or is it unmitigated bad luck when on playing a thor 2 star they get 4, 5 green matches in a row drop on one match, each critting with environment tiles so its basically game over?

Ive come to recognize the pattern now. Its usually when you are climbing fast in ranks. Or near a big milestone or have 5 mins to play. Its very frustrating.

Or if you have a shield up protecting your score and you wont get attacked for 24 hours then as soon as that puppy comes off BOOM! 5 attacks – 100 points etc.

I like this game. And spend a lot of time on it. All im saying is make the “ screw you “ mode a little less obvious. Then at least I can bust my own power. “ Ignorance is bliss “

  • It's not a conspiracy. When you are shielded, you do not show up as a potential opponent for people hitting skip. When you are are un-shielded, you appear in their queues. The more points you have, the juicier a target you are.

I find you get about a 8-12 minute window before the attacks start rolling in once the shields drop. You can buzz through about 60-80 extra points in that time frame if you use boosts.
  • A "generalized rant", as you put it, really isn't the best way to present feedback (especially with no actual suggestions to go with it).

The things you're complaining about though are all known phenomena and happen in most, if not all, competitive games. When you're shielded, you don't show up in people's hit lists. So it makes sense that if you have a lot of points and your shield comes down, you're going to look like a juicy target. If you're climbing fast in the ranks, your mmr for pvp (or scaling for pve) is going to see that and is going to adjust to keep you from breaking away from the pack permanently.

The "screw you" mode also suffers from personal bias. You'll remember the negative far more often than you remember the positive. Not every event ends that way or you'd have given up by now or your roster wouldn't have as many maxed chars, etc.

The reality is that there is no "screw you" mode and we just play a little more sloppy under a deadline or we remember the bad cascades far more often when they mean more. I'm currently sitting in "timeout" for Top Gun b/c of a ridiculous cascade after a Berserker Rage. It seems every match is currently 85 OBW, 141 Patch, 30 Falcon and it's really abusing my roster. It's not screw you mode, it's just the luck of the draw i conjunction with a really bad matchup.
