Silverfur Partisan and Reclaim

Hi, Silverfur Partisan says "When a Wolf or Werewolf you control is targeted by a spell, this creature gets +4/+4"
Reclaim sacrifices target creature and gives 12 mana.
If you have Silverfur out and Reclaim a wolf or werewolf it _should_ get +4/+4 but it does not.
I suspect this is because the creature dies.
I was able to confirm that it works with "Spatial Contortion" when the creature doesn't die.
