So what should it be really used for?

    Better version would read:

    Destroy each gem of your opponent's color. Opponent discards each support in hand. If the idea is you're blowing up all their mana, this is more in flavor AND useful.

    Of course, they're terrible at designing masterpiece cards, most of them are trash. So this is pretty much along those same lines.
