Breakdown:
  • 3x Masterpieces
  • 4x Mythics
  • 5x Rares
This is idiotic.  The hardest currency to accumulate now has a chance for **** rares.
Edit: You can now pay 120 for rares.  They could have at least put 5 good ones.  Only the Vizier is even decent.

i have skipped latest 2 MP collection and saved up already 1000+ jewels for this moment, only to find out theres 5 rares LMAO :disappointed:

correction: I notice you can choose to get only mythic/MP chance if you pay 400, for 120 you get chance on rare/mythic/MP

edit2: chose to open one for 400 and got a Neheb, the Eternal.. not bad i guess

Well it's a option to buy them. 120 for a rare + masterpiece or 400 for mythic + masterpiece.

There are two types of people in this world: those that freak out too quickly and those that don't.

The rares are only possible if you spend 120 on a pack. This is a good thing for new players.

    Edit: OP's username is relevant

@Waschecht yup just did and now I see it, and I like the change. Gives people more options with the purple stuff.

These packs are good for casual players.

Clearing an event like Fateful Showdown will get you a rare.

Coming, say, 25th-50th in **** will get you 5 jewels, so you only have to do that 24 times to get another rare.

Now it would be really useful to know what % of the 120JEWL packs contain a rare. Perhaps 10 of those isn't much worse than 3 of the 400JEWL ones. Perhaps they're an even BETTER choice assuming you don't have the rares yet. It all depends on the rates. That should be public info.

    Asking
for drop rates is kind of a running gag.. Would be great to get them, or course! Until Brigby clarifies them one future day we need to collect data and use math to have an idea.
Based on that, you can expect drop rates of around 80% rares, 19% mythics and around 1-2% masterpieces in those packs (no need for exact numbers. The real drops I've heard of kind of strengthen this calculation.

I won't try the small pack myself : rares become dupes too fast

With the introduction of these packs I think it's high time that players were given the percentage of getting cards from each specific rarity (at least for these elite packs for starters) so that they can make a fully informed decision while buying these. For example, if the percentage of getting a masterpiece is the same from both the rare+ pack and the mythic+ pack and I am interested in only getting the masterpiece and don't care about the mythics I would like to know so that I can buy just the rare+ one and get more shots at it.

@Brigby perhaps you could talk to the devs and see if they can disclose the percentage for at least these packs that we buy using unobtanium?

I want _certainty_ in these. I can't easily get my first 400 pink crystals back so I don't want to spend them without a guarantee of a masterpiece.

I don't want this being the same as other parts of the game at all, it doesn't feel right.

If I pay 400 and don't get a MP I am guaranteed to be disappointed.

Spending something this profound and specific should _never_ cause disappointment, I should _always_ be happy.

I'd recommend fixing the levels more strongly, not mixing them at all.

    100 pink - Guaranteed Rare
    250 pink - Guaranteed Mythic
    400 pink - Guaranteed Masterpiece

No mixing the levels at all.

The problem with elite packs is people equating them to masterpieces for some reason.

Literally no other long term pack available guarantees such a thing.

Part of the problem is they show us the cards which changes the expectation game in our heads.
Instead of "A mystery bag of good stuff" it becomes "I might get this specific awesome card!". After that is set up in your head disappointment becomes far far more probable than anything else.

People equate them with masterpieces because we have no other way to reasonably get masterpieces. This is our sole (realistic) chance.

I'm not sure if you were around when Masterpieces were introduced, but they were never intended to be acquired reliably.  They were simply a set of "nice to have" chase cards.  They're not necessary at any level of play.

The Elite packs were introduced as a part of a redistribution of rewards:

    1. Top X players no longer hoarded guaranteed Mythic prizes.

    2. Those guaranteed Mythics were broken into "Jewels", then apportioned so that the prizes were spread out a bit more, allowing say 50th place to still get something of value.

    3. Elite packs were created as a way to spend the Jewels and were intended to give players a better chance at "targeting" Mythics.  It was not intended to give a guaranteed non-dupe, and it was not intended to be an easy way to pick up Masterpieces either.  The responsibility of the player is to pick a rotation where a chance of a dupe is minimal, then roll the dice at a small selection.

There is argumentation and complaints all day long from players that "feel":

    1. These packs should give a guaranteed non-dupe

    2. Masterpieces should be easy to obtain

    3. Players should be able to easily acquire all cards in a set

While I get that "players want it all, they want it now, and they want it for free" (just an expression), that's not how the game was designed.

There is absolutely no need to acquire all cards.  The whole point is to pick up some key cards and work with them.

When they first introduced Standard, I loved it, but I hated that I couldn't use all my cards in the PVE event.  While I know that was a typical knee-jerk reaction, I understand now that it's actually to our advantage.  Since all cards expire for any type of current event, it no longer matters if you pick up some of the nicer cards.  You won't be able to use them several months down the road, so who cares if you don't get Pact of Negation or whatever else dream card you've got your eyes on.

Can you also get Mythic from the 120 pack?  Or is it just Rare and Masterpiece?  Thanks.

I think the 120 jewel pack with rares (no rerolls for dupes) would be better served if the rares were cards you could not obtain from normal packs. Since they release set cards in waves, they could preview the upcoming rares by putting them in the 120 jewel packs.
