Demolitionist Damage Mechanic

(posted here as it didn't really seem like a character question)

How does the Demolitionist damage mechanic work? I have been watching this a lot during the current iteration of The Hunt, and the damage caused is twice what the damage description is.

For example: there was Demo's countdown tile, and one other countdown tile. Description reads, "does 910 damage, plus 842 for each other countdown tile" - so 1,742 damage, right?

Did 3,486 damage. (This just happened, and I was specifically watching the numbers)

Did Demo Buddy find a 2x multiplier and not tell anyone ? or am I correct in the assumption the RNG gods reeaally don't like me ?

It's probably also adding in tile damage from the surrounding destroyed tiles? Not sure, I haven't seen one go off in awhile.
  • Are you sure it didn't set off some of the pink 20 turn countdowns? Those do nothing if they resolve on their own, but if a demo tile sets them off they do a bunch. So they basically get counted twice.
  • Honestly, Demo saved my bacon more than once by triggering before a sniper could destroy my team. Does anyone know the order in which multiple expiring cd tiles go off?
  • The purple countdown tiles also do extra damage if set off by Demolitionist. See "Iso-8 explosive" ability description.
  • I thought that at first, but according to the Bomb tech description, (in this example) the do another 783 damage if set off by Demo Buddy.

that would be ~2535 damage, not the 3486.

    Mystery, I guess. damn gnomes.

sorry: math, from base example, is 910(demo base)+842(demo 1 additional tile)+783 (ISO explosive damage)

While I cannot speak for your pants, the coffee is always the first to go.
  • There might have been a couple you didn't see on the board. Sometimes I feel very secure and right then one of the sneaky countdown tiles go off making me go ****!
  • yeah... I had a few of those with this game...
  • The damage mechanic goes like this: Since the demolitionist does so much damae in most situation, you just play with a team that attempts to never get hit by any goon tile. If you are about to, retreat and try again. Success! icon_e_biggrin.gif
  • I figured it out as I was able to duplicate the problem.

The demolitionist counts his own CD tile as a "friendly tile".

    So...

    (910 self + 842 self CD tile) + 842 + 842 = 3436 (+50 match damage for his green CD tile) = 3486 damage.
