Clear Mission points but no Progression Points?

To me this seems a bit unfair.  I started my mission before the time ended, obviously, and I cleared the last round after the quest ended.  In doing so I get the 10 points for clearing the mission, but I miss the next reward by 57 points because I don't get the progression points. That 125 Hero Points I'm not getting is a big pill to swallow.

    You get the progression rewards if you complete the mission before the timer ends. The same applies for everyone. 

    The server doesn't actually know that you're in the middle of a match. All it knows is the last update your phone/device sent, which happened the last time you completed a match.

    Also, because placement rewards are determined by everyone's score, if there was some way to "hold" an event open until you finished a match, you could easily have your placement rewards delayed indefinitely by someone not completing the match.
