Dupes for months. Help me strategize please

Hi folks,

My current lopsided roster, pulling constant dupes, and the recent announcement for progression rewards in the next two events is having me rethink my CP use. Here is the current state of my latest 12 4*s:

Medusa: 5/1/5
Captain M4rvel: 5/2/5
Riri Williams: 5/2/3
Mordo: 4/5/3
Agent Coulson: 5/5/0
Iron Fist: 2/3/5
Cloak and Dagger: 4/1/1
Rocket and Groot: 3/3/1
Gamora: 0/2/1

I have a large number of toons with 5 covers in a color who won't be leaving tokens soon. In addition, the next two Medusa covers given out in the Enemy of the State event will be the two I already have 5 in (MOTHER TINYKITTY). Also, the event after that will produce a yellow C&D which will push that color to 5. 

Currently I will pull a dupe 11/36 pull (12/36 after the yellow C&D), not counting those that turn a 5*.That's almost a third and I have 9 toons currently dying on the vine:

M4rvel- 1d
A. Venom- 2d
M4rvel- 4d
Coulson - 5d
Fist - 6d
Medusa - 9d
Riri - 13d
A. Venom - 14d
Coulson - 14d

Those last two I got from heroics consecutively and both were worthless.

I have 38CP currently and always work to full progression and usually hit the 10CP in pvp.

Should I start spending CP on specific covers to fill those 5/?/5 holes and can use more covers to champ? If so, with what priority. I may be able to get enough to used the Medusa on the vine before expiring as well as the two new ones coming.

My only two 4* champs are Wasp and Spiderwoman.

Thanks for any feedback. Feel like I'm at a choice point here.

Im no expert but i would spend cp on classic LT. All the characters you need to cover are still in the tookens and you get 6 packs for the amount of 120cp that it will take to cover 1 choosen 4*. Set bonus hero at only one 4* that you want to cover first and you will have your champs in no time. The consern of covers dying on the vine youll have to live with tho. But hey thats my opinion.

You didn't say how much ISO you have saved up. 

If you can't afford to champ three or four 4*s right now, you should probably just write off the covers in your vine, and hoard for a month or two (just before Blade leaves tokens) before you start spending any cp - and then just pull classics imo. This will compress your token expiry timeframe a bit so that you are more likely to pull the right colours so that you can champ and therefore use any additional extra covers you get. 

You might still run into some bad luck, but there's not much you can do about that. At least if you end up with say, 8 black covers for a character, you will be pulling enough tokens at once to hopefully fill out the other two colours sufficiently.

I have about 900,000 in iso so I'm in pretty good shape there. 

I'm usually a spend em as I get em guy, but could at least hoard to 120cp to champ and then at least further dupes wouldn't go to waste as more will come before those 5/2/5 leave tokens. I would only consider it for those who are one cover away.

Maybe I'll hoard til next month and then spend until I have 120cp left in case I get a bunch of Carol or other dupes where it might make sense to buy off the last one so the dupes don't go to waste. Of course the same logic could apply to just buying her off in a week when I have enough and not wasting at least one of them on the vine now and any additional I get.

Do opinions change with the iso information?

The one to leave next is Gwenpool so i think you will have no problem to fully cover AV and Carol before they leave. But if you value the covers on the vine then go for it

From my experience until you embrace the hoard this will be your life.  You are subjecting yourself to RNGs full fury.  The more tokens you buy at once the more likely you will get the 13 you need and can champ that character and apply any of the extras in that 2 week period.  You will still likely have to sell some dups until you champ a couple, but once you get to the point where you have 3-6 champed it becomes totally manageable to not cover without wasting a lot.  Also since they are focusing the current 12 way more in event rewards you can continue to build your characters while you're hording and wait to spend a hoard until you get an event that gives you an unusable cover.

Sounds like the consensus is either hoard to improve chances of not wasting covers or accept that you will waste a lot of covers.

This post and a similar post I made with the same issue came out at once. Glad to see saving CP until I have ISO to use it on stuff is the way to go.
