IDK.  This is one of the few events I can reliably get a top 5 in when losing multiple matches.

Part of me likes the fact that it's easy. Part of me dislikes the fact that it's basically the same deck with different removal for all 4 nodes. It really just feels, to me, like we need more variety to events overall

Agreed. I detest this event and it's objectives. Nothing like getting steamrolled by some powerhouse deck while I spit out a few vehicles.

There's something wrong this time around.  For the past while I usually just run into the same type of decks all trying to run vehicles.  But now I'm running into more "whatever" decks with no vehicles.

I think it's time to pull the plug on this event.

Not only does FiRF force you to use vehicles, it forces you to use the worst vehicles.  No HoK or Boomship... no, we are stuck with the tinykitty Ardara express and a sky skiff....  And not just on 1 node but on all 4!¿!?!¿!?!

on the very few occasions that I tried the event
my strategy was as follows. I don't use weakling
2/2 vehicles. if you don't have access to the likes
of aethersphere harvester then use bomat bazaar
barge and other more accessible 4/4 vehicles.
your oppnent is not going to go easy on you just
because you want to cast 5 vehicles. you still need
to win the battle to get any ribbons. use card draw
to help get vehicles out quickly via the crew
mechanics (every node can be made into a blue
node by using an appropriate planeswalker). I try
to win first and then if I managed to get the
    objectives, that's great.

I've never found the event exciting.

The issue is that you either win too quickly or you lose due to stalling.  In addition, unless you're getting lucky cascades, you spend the entire match trying to play 5 vehicles whereas you would normally do some balancing between control and aggression.

I think the biggest blow was the complete nerf to the Bomat Barge.  It used to draw a card, and if that card was a vehicle it would trigger the crew mechanic.  Now it draws a card and triggers the crew on everything else except that card.  I don't like that sequencing, because the crew mechanic clearly activates after the card is drawn.  It's not consistent.

I'd use cards like floodwaters and aether tradewinds.
also include mana gain/gem converter cards.
alchemists vial. include anything that is flexible and
preferably can also draw cards. you can also use
cycle to mana align your vehicles for optimal use of
    crew.

I completely ignores the optional objectives and just play normally. The duplicate rare is not worth it.

I almost always place top 20 in FirF. I play 5 vehicles most games, and rarely get the support node that requires going to less than 20 life. It's a very uninteresting event, made less interesting by people's perception that it's more worth playing a "whatever" deck than something tuned to the event.

I cant even bring myself to play FiRF any longer.  It's not fun to either ignore the objectives or try for the objectives.  Also, crystals are pretty useless at this stage of the game.

You all held out longer than I did, I gave up on it as soon as it went non-coalition. At least, I think it used to be coalition. It's hard to remember, it's so terrible.

On the plus side - you don't have to put much effort in for the rare. This event wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't three days long (would still be annoying)

You say that and yet I've still never placed high enough to get a rare. Mainly because I'm getting crushed by non event deck. And around we go in the circle...

    @Firinmahlazer
well, of course the effort is relative! This specific run allowed me with 3-4 losses to place in top 50- won't be possible in many other events!

The programmers could fix it by only allowing Decks that had Vehicles so you had to have a minimum of two vehicle creatures in your hand
