On The Subject Of Mastery

So, as I understand it, your Mastery rank determines matchmaking for events like Trials, correct? Your Mastery rank is determined by the cards you've leveled, regardless of the set that they're from, yes? Is it safe to assume, then, that players that have taken a break, like myself, might find themselves outclassed in events like Trials Of Ambition, where you're matched against decks that have been built using the current sets and meta, full of the now legal rares and mythical, while you're struggling to come up with something competitive out of the core set and the limited amount of stuff that you got from, for example, Kaladesh/ARevolt and the **** pulls I've got so far from Amonkhet.

Not so much on the salt, just trying to figure out why I'm struggling in Trials. I'm pretty solid on my deck crafting, but getting thrown against a lot of decks that are all rares and mythical with a handful of uncommons is disheartening haha

Also, auto correcting a not in the least bit profane word is a bit excessive imo lol

That circumstance has quite honestly never entered my mind but man I feel kind of bad for people that that happens to.  The game does seem to get a little harder every day for new people or people that like you who were on a "vacation".

I've wondered if and how this will be adjusted for future sets myself.... If I were to leave the game now and come back in a year, that might mean that I would still be considered in platinum but with no cards to actually play in events. That would make it near impossible to come back. This is something that needs to be considered by the developers of the game.

I reckon Mastery is done and dusted now as far as the dev team are concerned and will not change. Card balance used to be an area of development and that ceased... ditto planeswalker balance... ditto story modes... ditto max planeswalker levels.

They've probably already forgotten how to decipher the code for it.  Remember when some players maxed out their Mastery and got reset to Bronze Tier, and their solution was to raise the max value of Mastery a bit? There isn't a programmer on Earth who'd think that was a good idea.
