Two blue cards, a creature and a spell both exile cards from the top of the library, whats the point?

Exiled cards cannot embalm or be returned from the graveyard.

There is no point. It's that simple

manually exiling approach of the second sun from your hand  means it doesn't count towards copies in your graveyard.

my guess is there's very little point in exiling from the top of your library except in the off chance that the exiled card could be returned from the graveyard i.e prized amalgam, once exiled it wont be returned to play. if aven mindcensor read discard from the top off your library prized amalgam would return to play when a zombie was cast

The cards mentioned do exile, not destroy.. And they exile from the enemys library *to clarify *

I can't really see much point either, not with an infinite number of cards in your deck.  Now, if this was paper MTG where milling was a viable strategy...

It's the old philosophical thought experiment:
If a card is exiled from a library and nobody can see what it is, does it make an impact?

This would be worth something, if you could put out an opponents permanent on it's deck and then exile it or if the library would be limited and an empty library would mean defeat.

At the moment, I find it useless.

They didn't want to implement Exile from paper cards that actually have that keyword like Hixus.  So instead came up with new convoluted mechanics like Disable/Enable instead for Hixus and relegated the PQ implementation of Exile to less meaningful usage.

If the size of a library were finite, then it would have a purpose. In paper magic cards that take cards off the top of the library actually do something since if your opponent runs out of library, then they lose. In this game, if you run out of library, the game just generates another one. So, basically, it does nothing much at all. It is a way, however, to get rid of problematic cards like Prized Amalgam. Use Gone Missing to put it on top of the library, the Compelling Argument to exile it before it cam be drawn.

In Puzzle Quest, the exile cards effect only seems to feed the latest Gideon's final loyalty ability.

Well it does do something... Exiling cards from the library in MTGPQ will get rid of that card and prevent any recursion of it most of the time. (Gideon3) Plus if its the opponent's bomby finisher such as Samut or whatever it will slow down that bombs arrival.

Well, it could also be that you speed up the arrival of that bomb finisher!

Laeuftbeidir is right.  The question is what card will it get rid of?  The card they need to to top-deck to disrupt all of your plans?  Or the card on top of the card they need to top-deck to disrupt all your plans?  Barring the effects of 40-card deck regularisation, either scenario is equally likely.  If you don't exile from library, they will draw a random card.  If you exile, they will instead draw a random card (and a second random card vanishes from a place it was never visible in to begin with).

Without knowing the order of the opponent's deck, exile from library is a null operation, excluding only any effects which explicitly operate on exiled cards (i.e. Shadow of the Grave, which, if you were playing it, an opponent exiling cards from your library would be an act of pure assistance).

So it seems a card with exile from the opponent's deck is actually WORSE than if it didn't have any text at all

Actually if you Exile more cards, he may not get the cards he was targeting with shadow of the grave.

I'm still hopeful for scrying coming in the next expansion.
