Keeping awarded covers in the economy

There has been a substantial amount of complaints regarding the 'rich getting richer', i.e. top players continuing to use their position to take up the top placement 3* rewards. At the same time, the pool size of 3* heroes from which to draw has increased and chance of obtaining 3* covers from event tokens and event token packs have dropped. Incase of many packs that used to have guaranteed covers, they dropped spectacularly; from a guaranteed 100% to a meager 4~5%.

I suggest that any 3* covers that are sold off (or skill-swapped out) by players that no longer want them, go directly go back into the draw pool for tokens by creating a small and temporary increase in the base chance of that particular cover being awarded to another player through a token pull. Once taken, the chance reduces again. This way these rare tokens stay within the community. Also, a sudden surge of 'old' 3* characters taken by top players gets a steady chance of finding its way into the hands of younger players this way, in turn giving them a somewhat more decent shot at completing these older characters.

This still would not touch newly released 3* heroes, since the players that first win them are expected to actually use them or hold onto them as long as they continue to offer a leg up in PvE events' essential nodes.

  • I don't see this being very popular since the only cards that would be available are the unpopular and very common ones that people don't need.

Not necessarily. I've sold multiple Punisher blacks and Hood blues by now, for example, and I'm not a top-tier player. Any of the top-tier players are selling plenty of covers people lower down will want. It just wouldn't help them much.
  • Unfortunately covers are not distributed evenly, so people may be selling off a single color over and over again and not be able to find the one color they still need. This system would make that even worse icon_e_confused.gif

Would be interesting to have a separate cover pack called Discards you could intentionally pull from but altering the normal distribution for standard/heroic packs would probably be bad long term.

But you can agree that the majority of covers are going to be 1* and 2*, just like a standard pack, but with a lower chance of actually getting a good cover, such as hulks black or 3* Widows green, which will almost be non-existent there.

He specifically says 3* covers. If it was 1* and 2* covers, then, sure everyone would hate it.
  • Oh, he must have edited it. Some information wasn't there when I first read it lol. Well if it was only for 3*'s then I guess it could work, but the HP price would be pretty steep.

The only thing I edited is actually the note regarding newly released 3* stars. I mentioned from the get-go that this should only affect 3* covers, and exactly because they are rare.
Note also; the intention is to increase the chance of the specific color of the discarded 3* cover in the sense of an additive total chance, i.e. , it shouldn't take away from the odds of scoring another 3* cover.

I like the alternate suggestion of a fixed discard pile from which to pull as well, btw.
  • Well I apologize, I must have been confused from your first paragraph since I didn't understand it on my first read through. I do agree with your second paragraph though, about the new players getting a better chance of obtaining old covers.
