PVE has gotten too tough -- Should I Sell my 5*s?

My roster: https://mpq.gamependium.com/rosters/kickmagnet/

I use Green Goblin heavily in PVP, so it would be a shame to lose him, but I spend all my health packs in PVP and can't complete all the initial PVE seeds right now. I think my scaling is off because of the huge gap between my 5*s and my next highest, Iron Fist, nearly 100 levels below.

Should I hold onto my 5*s to keep competitive in PVP, or sell them to finish more PVE seeds?

Yeah, they're throwing your mmr off. Same thing happen to me when surfer was first released. I won't say sell because I rather regretted selling off way back when, but your only other option is to just tough it out accepting that pvp isn't much of an option until you have a stable of 4 stars champed.

    There's 2 different things here.

PVP: Your roster is only going to get you so far here. I would be surprised if you could get to 575 with your roster; if you can, then that's fantastic. Things will be a little easier as you get more 3* champs, but PVE will be a slog no matter what.

PVE: I don't know that a 1/1/0 green goblin should be involved in too many of your PVE teams at this point other than to preserve health packs. You have several high-tier 3* champs (Thanos, Fist, IM40, GSBW, etc.) whose powers hit harder than him; you really should tear through the low nodes and get through most of the high nodes in PVE. You might have scaling problems on weeks where nobody is boosted, but as you get more 3* champs this will not be an issue.

I've always believed that until you have multiple boosted 4* champs that the main road to progress in this game is PVE, not PVP; you'll be better served if you make sure you get through PVE and if you still have time then feel free to play PVP.... It sounds like you're doing the opposite.

In short, I see no reason to sell your 5*, but don't put ISO into them.

    As always, my 2 cents.

Yes, I am doing the opposite. I almost consistently make it 575 (though it's work), and I don't stop making PVP my priority until I've gotten the heroic-10-pack in the Gem season.

Maybe it's just the GotG character-based PVEs that are giving me a hard time. Thank you both for your insight.

I appreciate your determination. Even with my rooster, I feel that PVP is too difficult. But don't underestimate PVE though. Every event gives you the possibility to earn a 4* character and lots of stars. You have to go through more fights, but they're a lot easier than PVP. And characters such as Dr. Strange and Iron Fist can get you through them quite fast.

You've got 10 versus events in a season, so if your only goal is to get the 10-pack reward, you only need an average of 400 points in each event.

And any points you get in the SHIELD Simulator will bump that down.  For example, if you think you can hit 1000 points in the simulator, then you only need to average 300 points in each versus event.

If you are frequently playing to achieve higher scores than that, you could safely spend more time on story events without risking the 10-pack.

I have two main objectives in PVP: getting the 10 CPs at 575 and reaching the Pack. Other than this, I focus in PVE. This way, I've quickly increased my 4* champions and, although I have all 5*, and some of them are reasonably covered, never put ISO on them to avoid scaling. The average enemy level I face is the hardest fight is 350. As an advice, I would focus in the transition 3* to 4* as a way to reduce the effect of your 5*.

I would not sell your 5*. The devs have stated that they are going to tie scaling to SCLs in the near future, so that should solve your scaling problem. I'd hold off until the new changes go live before dumping your Gobby.
