Improving Rewards - Quality x Quantity

I feel that after they nerfed the rewards that the game became a lot less interesting.

But I came to realize that the biggest problem isn't the quantity of the rewards, but the "quality" of them.

D3 has 229 rare cards to give as rewards to us, but limited it to be AER rares wich are only 18. After a very short time every player is receiving dupes.

My suggestion is to use what worked very well in QB, make themed rewards like SOI rare, BFZ rare, color specific rares. And cycle it every week or day. This would create incentive to players chasing specific cards.

Events would become a lot more interesting and D3 wouldn't even upgrade the rewards.

The same thing applies to boosters only receiving KLD boosters is boring before we received SOI, BFZ and ORI.

This is a very easy to implement and would improve the game a lot to new and old players.

What you guys think about that?

    It depends.

I think it'd be fantastic to offer different set rewards now, when we all are sitting on a lot of rares and dupes. However, when Amonkhet comes out, I think people would be upset if they went into an event and got a BFZ rare as a prize instead of something from the new set.

What would be best is allowing us to CHOOSE the set after we win.

Agreed, letting us choose would be fantastic. And I completely agree that when Amonkhet cames out we will prefer receiving it. But if they keep it like it is now after a few weeks we are going to be bored again.

After a new set arrive they could make a special month of that set as rewards then starting cycling again.

If they don't change the rewards ever it is a lot more easy to us to feel less interested. If they make themed rewards they could make players that are chasing specific cards more interested. And at the end keeping players interested is main goal of a game.

I definitely think they should rotate the rewards.  We probably shouldn't all have every single AKH rare in the first two weeks after release.  You can still award AKH packs, but individual cards could rotate.

I would add to this that they should also move to a "Rare with a chance of Mythic upgrade" approach used elsewhere in the game. Giving us a shot to get a mythic, even if its low and luck based, it would add some more fun to the game and increase the quality.  I have 0 incentive to go for KLD or AER rares as I have all of them. If I had an off chance of getting upgraded, you better believe I would be incentivized to actually try in events.  Heck, I might even decide to spend some money again.

they could use the prizes as an event entry requirement
to separate the tier groups. eg. bronze group 1 is made
up of 3k players who are chasing akh and group 2 3k
players chasing older boosters. those who have won
enough akh boosters can then compete with each other
for older boosters in group 2. instead of some residing in
group 1 and bullying those chasing akh boosters who
    probably have a weaker collection.
tier groups based on what you are chasing?

A rotation would be great in that you could simply choose which events to play to get particular rewards. I get that KLD and AER are the new sets but they just aren't that new and anyone playing events for the majority of the time has at least half of every rare from each set. I stopped grinding OotG to 55 for a while ago. Why bother when the rare a dupe 2 out of 3 pulls?

Amonkhet coming in a few weeks will alleviate some of this but in 2-3 months we will be in the same situation. Hopefully there is a long term plan to keep rewards fresh. I don't really chase KLD packs anymore and I know lots of others that are the same way.

I made a suggestion to deal with this. You can find the link here!

If not choose your own (which would be amazing), they can easily have a few events to be the "New Set" rewards, and rotate through the rest.

Or, they can tie in different rewards with different events (ie. even in Terror in the Shadows right now, the mid progression reward is SOI in platinum). Tie rewards from different sets with events, and rotate the events!

And to accommodate "people want new cards from the new set at the beginning", they can still run more "new set event/rewards" overall, like a 3-1-1-1 split per week, or however many events are run per week.

I said this just last week!

The bottom line is that they need to give us more choice. I would accept randomness if I could choose the set. I'm missing a ton of the earlier cards, so it would be awesome if I could limit my potential to one of them.

Not to be a **** or say this is a bad idea, but technically that's what they do with crystals.

That said, if we got like 40-50 crystals instead of a pack that would be awesome (since technically 60 is slightly better than a pack).

I am going to reiterate... change the onslaught of rares to include "chance of a mythic". Even if only like 2 of the 50 get an upgrade, it would make it more exciting... tap into our gambling instincts!

I find the feel of winning booster packs very
    different from chasing crystals. generic
crystals can be acquired through many
different means but you need to score well
in the right events when chasing certain
boosters. specific boosters add variety to
    an event.

There is too much at stake that relies on randomization in this game.

Event rewards should generate three choices and let the player choose one.

Elite packs should do the same thing, generate three choices and let the player choose one.

This would be great for the game, players would love the change and in general morale would be through the roof.  The value of top prizes would increase and the competitive folk would once again have something worthy of their efforts.  The paying players would also bring more money to the game knowing that there is less reliance on luck to obtain something new for 400 mana jewels.

Aren´t jewels the cure for this? Instead of a rare, give 100 mana jewels, and then have a "rare-only" booster for sale at the same prize. Then, players that need rares can buy that, players that are mostly looking for mythics can wait for that, and so on.

Cool idea. And I don't know if it's the ideal solution, but more should be done with jewels... And maybe make their acquisition a little less glacial.
