Please have the game save the state of the match locally

Over this weekend, I've had a quite a few matches that will end with either the app crashing while I'm using it normally, crashing when I switch to other programs, or losing connection in the middle of a match. These would all be trivial issues if it didn't also lose the state of the match and count as a loss for an event. This part of it is the main issue I have that is drastically reducing my enjoyment of the game. It's particularly obnoxious because some matches last 10+ minutes where I can't switch apps or  move between areas with different connections, and even then the game could still crash for a technical issue.
I would imagine there are always going to be stability issues for a game like this, especially when new content is released. I also imagine there are legitimate technical reasons that the game doesn't work this way already. I am mainly writing as an effort on my part to resolve my main frustration that I could forsee making me not want to play the game anymore.

Since the game data is stored on your device anyway, according to Octal9,

I think this should be doable. (But maybe someone with a little bit more background could confirm this?)

Especially now, that there is a battle log.
When the game starts it can check the battle log. If the battle log isn't finished and the game was resumed within, let's say, 5 minutes, then you should be asked if you want to resume your game.
If you don't want to, it is a loss and otherwise you can continue.

Yes, it's very depressing to be playing in one of these tournaments, where every game is important, and to just lose because the app crashed.

None of the other games I have crash like MTGPQ does.

Possibly it's not as a way to (try) to prevent cheating. What's to stop someone otherwise from being in a losing situation and just loading in a different battle state to their devise, reopening the app, and claiming a victory?

All the data is already stored on the devise. This will not make cheating easier but only help the ones who don't cheat, I think.

Again, I'm no expert but it sounds like cheating is quite easy already.
