Pretend for a moment you have every character and can spec their colors any way you want.

Who are you taking into a lvl 220+ goon fight and what is their build?

3/5/5 Spidey, 3/5/5 MNMags, and maybe Pun to Retribution em off a little quicker.

But that's the guys I have experience with...maybe Patch, LThor, BP, or CMags would be more useful at higher levels.

Doesn't matter how you spec them as long as you have 5 spidey blue, 5 green Widow ( and 5 purple) and 5 red Punisher.

You don't even have to build up a lot of blue. Just enough to use in case one countdown tile gets loose.

Widow's purple can wipe out most of the board if you lay the green tiles down right. Plus, alot of the heavy-hitting goons use green for their countdown tiles.
  • Either Classic Spidey or OBW(with maxed blue)+ M. Storm(with mistress of the elements at level 4 or more)+ A heavy damage dealer. I was a bit hesitant to put modern storm there since she's pretty sqishy, but she's still a reliable source of cheap cascades and board control when anything happens to slip out of spidey/OBW's hands. If I use a decently leveled 2* or 3* char for the damage dealer they'll absorb all the attacks anyway.
  • Patch, Magneto (classic), and the third person doesn't matter. Berserker Rage outdamages everything in the game by a comfortable margin in a long fight, and your enemy can't move the board. Magneto has great synergy with Patch, and Magnetic Field can get rid of any problematic CD tiles that you can't reach. I usually use OBW (for espionage) or Captain (additional CD removal) for the last person. I guess Falcon will work too but I don't have him max covered yet.

I usually take the Hood/MMN/cStorm even if they are not 100% fool-proof. It's AMAZING against blue or purple generating goons as that way you don't even need to match blue and purple yourself. Wait for some to build and Polarity Shift/Wind Storm everyone into submission. This team is rainbow and has like 9000 ways of getting AP between Lightning Strike, MMN's red and purple, Hood's sap and Pistols. Even Intimidation gets used and if the goons aren't lvl 300, cStorm can rebut, and badly, if you actually get hurt.

Edit - 5/5/3 for the Hood and cStorm and 3/5/5 for MMN (his blue is NEVER used).

Edit: for more damage, Punisher/oBW/the Hood. oBW will delay if needed and Punisher/the Hood have board destruction abilities. 3/5/5 for the Punisher and oBW.

OBW 3/5/5, Hood 5/5/3, and Steve Rogers 3/5/5. The fight might take a while but between those three no countdown tile should go off.

#/5/# Spidey, 3/5/5 MNMags, 5/5 Venom. Mags generates blue tiles, Spidey stuns opponents, and Venom can instantly kill an enemy with 12 black as long as 6 web tiles are on the board.

No need to damage the Don with 10k health when you can kill him with Venom's one move.
