Why Wasp, and why now?

So up until this current saga I kept pulling Wasp covers and tossed them like a bad habit because I didn't feel she was worthy of a spot in my limited line-up (silly me).  I honestly could have champed her by now and they gotten two more covers playing this saga.  I am not sure why I kept getting all of those Wasp covers but as I keep reading this forum I keep hearing that she is going away, or being moved out and being replaced with another character.  I am not sure what this all means or where this information is coming from.  Can someone please explain what that all means?

When you open classic token or latest token, there are only 12 latest 4* characters. Others are vaulted, that means you cannot receive them by that tokens. When developers add 1 new character, they ale remove 1 character. Wasp is going to be vaulted really soon (read she will be removed from tokens.) Only way how to gain her covers when that happens is by progression rewards in in PVP and PVE - when she will be there ofc.

It's the 12 most recent 4 stars, and it updates at the beginning of each season.  Wasp is the oldest, and will be replaced by Cloak and Dagger prior to the start of the next season (about 1 week away).  Here is the thread in the Tips and Guides forum.

Not really.  If you're not on the forums or sort of "in the know" then it is easy to miss.  They don't provide in-game pop-ups or anything like that warning you and my guess is because even though it'd be immensely helpful to the players, it also is a reminder of a VERY unpopular decision (vaulting).

I think the only time they actively mentioned it in game was in one of those News Flash pops up when you first load the game, and only right after they started this new system. Aside from that you just need to notice that the prize pools in vaults only have the most recent characters, and in alphabetical order not release order.

When you go to the "Classic Legends" vault, look in the mid-right by Luke Cage's elbow.  You will see the "?" Info button.
Click.
Now everything will be clear to you.
Your elected Bonus Heroes are there.
Next down are the 5*s in your vault.
Further down are the (12) 4*s in your vault.

Do note that the characters are in alphabetical order though, so the display gives no information about who is about to leave the token pool and when it might happen.

yeah, I kinda side-stepped the OP's question, didn't I......well, it would be nice if they sorted them (Info button) by arrival date though, wouldn't it...

That splash screen is horrible.  Barely any useful information at all, and presented in a very hard to parse way.
