I actually like the smaller brackets and fewer tryhards because I actually place higher in events.

I really don't understand this sentiment.  You prefer getting worse prizes even though you place higher in events?  And you don't like playing against "tryhards"?  Does this mean you don't really enjoy the competitiveness of the event in the first place?

Slice it however you want, the game has become immensely more boring since the last patch.  The content is over the top redundant and there are no incentives to win the game.  It's a game guys. It is not fun if there is no incentive to try and win.

@Laeuftbeidir I know, right?!?! I've opened packs and gotten an some common or uncommon that I've not gotten before then out of habit I go to convert the dupes and see that one is new. Then like an addict I'm swiping screens to see what my new "common" was that I thought wasn't. Haha. What I'm curious about is what ratio the game uses when it comes to randomization in free packs. I've I had to hazard a guess, it's presently 40% Kaladesh and 60% an even mix of the prior releases. My lowest collection is Origin, but the irony is when I decided to buy a premium pack with my crystals....I duped every single card and I've only 20% of that set. Things that make you go hmmmm....no?

See posts like the above one are why we need the LOL reaction back. Or something similar.
The problem with the LOL tag was that people were using it to tag posts that they thought were amusing.
Per my post in another recent thread -- a sense of humor is off-topic. It had to be removed for this reason. Flying Spaghetti Monster forbid we actually have fun with this game. Games shouldn't be fun!!!

I've only been a forum member for a short while and one of the biggest complaints that bigger players post about is  how hard it is to beat kill wind, mersicide and a few others of their ilk... who apparently ALWAYS win events when they take one on. So, competitive? Sure. Incentive to win, sure. Able to win against top players who have a veritable encyclopedia of cards to choose from because they keep winning these events? Pfft... I would have better odds playing tables in Vegas. Because those tables are broken up to provide better odds of winning . My two cents

    THEMAGICMAN,
I appreciate your thoughts around here. You've stood by your guns with D3 as far as I can see. I'm moved by your persistence to not spend money here any longer. I wish a number of these realities would change here also.

My impression is that D3 will either change or sink. I don't play this game anymore, 'cus I have given up on them. I feel their thoughtless greedy fingers all over the purchase buttons and neglect everywhere else. Honestly, I've felt the neglect since I started playing this game. The greed seems new.  We all know of games that bring in less income and develop faster. Nowadays I just come to see if they have finally acted to fix this mess they've created. Leaving my well developed account to do more interesting hobbies like MTGO hasn't been amazing, but it is better than this ****.

The truth is there are good things we wish this game would be or become, but there is no reason to believe it will. Time is a valuable commodity like money. Consider spending your time where it will be honored.

You and I don't disagree Gunmix...  but the solution didn't need to be remove the incentive to play.  Rather, a matchmaking system based on accomplishment rather than card mastery.  Even if you keep a similar tier system (bronze - platinum), you could award X "skill" points for a top 5 finish, top 25 a lesser amount, etc.  Once you reach a certain level you graduate to the next tier (ie silver, bronze, platinum).  All classes of players get the same rewards for events, but you just cant hover in silver indefinitely because as you win events you will be tiered up.

Then new players are less disadvantaged and veteran players are the only ones paired against Killwind or Mersicide caliber decks.   More prizes for everyone is better...  austerity ruins the fun of the game and prevents you from EVER catching up to a collection
